Well ladies and gentleman The University made there decision. Now we must stand behind it and be positive (as much as I don't want to !). I think if he makes some changes to the staff we all know who needs to go we will be alot better . I am not going to go down that road (it has be traveled down many times on different threads). All I am saying lets move past this regular season. Just think last year we only had 3 wins. I am pissed about Syracuse and other games we LOST (they did not win) but we need to move on past that ! If we do go bowling lets get behind them and support OUR team ! We will be back

I agree Irish Chris. Charlie is still our coach and we have to try to stay positive. Hopefully we can win our bowl game and get that monkey off our back and come back next year and shut up all of the talking heads who do nothing but bash ND. Go Irish!

If we win a bowl game (no matter who we play), I think the season will still be a success. This team should be 9-3. BC, MSU, and USC all outplayed us by a considerable margin. ND gave the three other games away. A bowl win is at least some progress. Changing coaches wouldn't accomplish anything. If things don't improve next year then a coaching change needs to be made.

Wow great thread...I do agree we gave 3 games away and could easily be 9-3 but the fact is we lost those games...hopefully this team will learn to play 4 quarters next year. We do that next season; with all of the talent coming back then look out. 9-10 games should be expected..

i agree. even though (from all the negative comments) he is not what the majority wanted, but we as the loyal ND community should stand by the decision made by the university. i have heard the positive and the negative and continue to keep an open mind. i am just as a ND fan as all of us are and hate to see the state the program is in, but will continue to support ND. maybe its the CUBS fan in me......

I agree Shamrock. After the Syracuse loss and especially the U$C loss, I wanted Charlie gone. The admin. made their choice to keep him so I have to accept it and hope for the best. I'm really looking forward to this recruiting class coming in and whatever changes Charlie is going to make to help get our Irish where we all want them to be. Go Irish!

In the five years Jerry Faust was at Notre Dame they made so many changes to help him out it was like they were trying to get a relative into an exclusive club. It never worked they tried strength coach changes, oc changes, defense coaches were changed, they bought him the best coaches they could and he failed. Both he and Charlie are almost to be pitied because they are good men and loyal sons of Notre Dame but neither is a suitable head coach. The recruits that will come after all this are the men who want to be part of Notre Dame no matter what and thats a good thing. I like Charlie Weis and hope for his sake he just doesnt get embarrassed next year and have to go thru those demeaning interviews by NBC people after these loses. Seems to me its more in the hands of the players from here on out than Charlies ability to coach. He can coach x's and o's but can he get a young man emotionally and mentally prepared for games is the question. The players so much as told us at times this year they wanted more leadership in that regard. How can anyone be flat playing for Notre Dame unless that aspect of the game isnt even addressed. As I've said many times before that is not part of the formula in the pros its a given and never needs to be addressed. Obviously in college football it does become part of the formula and I think more than anything else that is where Charlie needs to improve.

I will always support the Blue& Gold. Nobody wants them to win more than me. I will continue to wear my Irish gear no matter what ridicule is dished out because it will just be that much sweeter when we finally turn it around. BUT....don't expect me to remain silent when I see lousy uninspired play,poor coaching or a lack of progress

Why would you think it would stop after we win a National Championship? It will probably get 100% worse. I'm sure if we ever win a National Championship again ESPN will find a way to put us down.

screw espn & mark may (although we've been so pitiful this season that mr. may has been kind.....screw 'em anyways).

i'll support the team and the school for their decision. i just pray that charlie wakes up & works diligently at correcting the problems. i'm hoping that bill belicheck kicks 'em in the rear (cuz you know c'dub is going to him for constructive criticism).

we need an oc that understands the college game and provides a simple but exciting game plan. we need an offensive line coach that teaches better footwork and blocking schemes that actually work with a big and supposedly physical o-line. we need tenuta to get this defense playing mean and nasty football.

okay, i'm ready for a bowl game now. put me in coach.

Very true Espn despises Notre Dame and our tradition !
