If a press conference was announced, it would have been by now. Its already been established that CW and Swarbick (sp?) will meet a week from todya as both are out of town currently.

Ask Gerry Faust about that...4 straight #1 recruiting classes and he still got canned. It's about results on the field and in the classroom. One without the other is failure.

I think he stays to be honest...early yesterday I was pretty sure he would get canned...but now, I am more sure that he stays.

Plus, they will probably move painfully slow on this decision because even if they are planning on canning him (and I truly, truly hope they are) they will want a plan in place. Which means taking time to contact or at least feel out replacements so that they don't end up without a coach lined up like before. I don't see a decision being made until they have some of this business resolved.

Since I am not a football expert and just love Notre Dame football, I hope Charlie stays for another year. I think if they fire him we will be in the same boat we were three years ago and have to start all over again. We made some improvement over last year, didn't we? Not what anybody wanted but none of us will be happy until we can go 12-0.

Why not? He lied to us! he said we would have a "Tough, Nasty, Disciplined" football team. Oh and "We will not lose to the likes of Boston College and Michigan States under my watch" Oh and "If I dont win a National Championship by my 5th year I should be fired" Just some FYI: He aint winning the NC next year.

Seriously? I didn't start watching ND until about 1986, I never realized they had recruiting like that under Faust!

weis saying that about winning a NC by the end of his 5th year kills me. we're not even close right now. it should be interesting to see how he responds to a reporter reminding him of that comment.

I don't know what else he needs to do to let us all realize that he can't do this job. The fact that he has had very good recruiting classes makes it all worse in my opinion. Kelly makes me nervous because he hasn't coached all of his own guys yet.
I'd like to know if the people that extended CW's contract are still in control. That may be where the problem is. I've watched ND for the last 40 years and don't ever remember as many personal fouls, mistakes and overall lack of discipline that I've seen in the last few. These kids just aren't getting developed for some reason and season 3 with 3 wins and season 4 with 6 especially with that schedule is just unacceptable at this program. Maybe things have changed and you can't win at this level with these kind of academic standards anymore but I'm not entertained by close games with Navy and near wins with Syracuse.

that statement may be true, if we weren't getting top 10 classes every year and arguably the best class last year.

Mike Golic made a good point this morning. Would the administration really want him on the road talking to recruits if they knew they were going to can him? Or better yet, if he knew they were going to can him, would you want him out there?

I dont think anyone with common sense expected a 12-0 season this year. However 9-3 or 8-4 was extremely attainable with our schedule. Dont forget that there are 119 fbs teams and out of those 119 our s.o.s. was 107th. 100 and effin 7th!!!. Even with our team being young there is no excuse to barely finish the season at .500. UNACCEPTABLE!! Fear of starting over is not a good enough reason to stay the course with CW. Its nothing personal, im sure he is a great guy and it would be great to have him stay on and recruit for us but he cannot get the job done as our head coach.
