Proof Urban Meyer is a Legitimate HC Candidate.....

I keep hearing people say its not a possible scenario, why would Urban want to come here, and its never going to happen. Just figured i would repost some links people have posted about why it is a legitimate scenario. I will tell you i have seen two newspapers, one flordia, one indiana, and also heard that NFL network thinks it is very possible. Plus, it is now different than 2004, when the head coach was stepping into a bad situation down the road with willinghams recruiting classes. Charlie has brought in great talent and its easily seen he has done just that. His kids are mostly moved away, and will soon be only one at home. Seems like this might be our first offer if charlie is fired, i just hope they look into very closely to see who we could get.

Im not saying i see it happening yet, but im also not saying its not going to happen. I actually think that if it all pans out to where we can offer Urban a chance to bring a team back that he loves and that is stuggling, his great competitive nature will led him straight to Notre Dame, IF we give him an open invitation.

No. He was clear about it when he talked with the administration in 2004. He wanted JUCOs amongst other things. He wanted the ability to overrule admissions on 6 students, etc.

Unless he changes his core feelings about academics, then he is NOT ND material.

Again could you please tell me what values our college believes in that Urban Meyer does not believe in? Winning? Family? God? Academics? Which one can u actually say he doesnt believe in? Just wondering if you are ever going to quit blasting Urban just because your mad because so many of our recruits wanted to play for him instead of Charlie Weis...... yeah those recruits were really wrong about Notre Dames staff now werent they?

Oh yeah and the academics thing charlie really doesnt even believe in either, along with many Notre Dame fans.......remember the huge arguement he had with the Admissions about gettting Jonathan Baldwin to come here. They denied him, oh yeah, and then Baldwin went to Pitt and made the biggest play of the game to beat Notre Dame. Nice. Im not saying accept people with ACT scores of 9, but dont let great kids with amazing talent slip away.

At least I hope so. I know first hand the hypocricy of most professors. They don't teach, they just accept winners. ND accepts winners, and winners learn fast. Does not make Harvard, Yale (yada fuckin yada) great schools. Teachers often hump around with each other and their students. And they think that's cool.

ND needs to let football happen.

It didn't happen and now he's in a recruiting hotbed, making millions, winning the toughest conference in college football and competing for National Championships.

Leaving Florida to come to ND would be tantamount to Bill Gates leaving Microsoft to take over Enron (while they were in the middle of their collapse). He isn't leaving Florida. ND isn't going to attract a top shelf head coach.

I can, however, tell you what is going to happen:

1. Fans, who know nothing and have no say, are going to continue coming up with wild ideas. Those ideas are going to be espoused by other fans in the hopes that their reverie will some how become reality--it won't.

2. Jeff Carroll is going to continue writing scathing articles that seek only to stir up the hornets nest that is the ND fanbase. His articles are a thinly veiled attempt by the SBT to offer balance.

3. ND's administration is not going to fire CW until they have somebody in place. They made that mistake with Ty Willingham--not that things would be better with him at the helm--and they don't want to bear the odium for doing it again.

4. CW will be back next year and ND will be mediocre yet again.

These are facts that I, as a long time ND fan, have come to accept. We are now an Ivy League school hiding behind a football tradition that is little more than an attempt by the administration to bilk us out of as much money as possible.

For the record....in the very unlikely probability that anyone actually gives a shit (lol)....it's pronunciation sounds like the first part of beautiful. Im all for getting smart kids on the football teams, i really am, but i believe Notre Dame, as well as other colleges should not just look at test scores. The ACT and SAT are great for students who are reasonably smart and who are good test takers, especially speed tests. I truly think that they do not measure the abilities of the students work ethic, or even their true abilities as a student. Yes there should be academic standards, but we should not decline great kids who have a track record of being great students as well. I scored higher on the ACT than many of my classmates, but some of them i will openly admit, are naturally smarter than I am. But they are not good at taking timed tests. Just figured i would drop my two cents on that issue.
