Oh yeah i forgot to mention Meyers team is beating the crap out of Flordia State at Flordia St.... 21-6 still in the 2nd. And Georgia Tech isnt going to be able to run the Triple Option offense because it doesnt fit their players. jk they just beat Georgia.

I struggle to see similarities between Clausen-Leak and Crist-Tebow...especially the latter. Crist looks more like Quinn than Tebow in my opinion. I also think that any coach would have a very hard time recruiting for speed at Notre Dame. Would Harvin, Demps or James have qualified for Notre Dame? The standards are high and the system needs to be designed for student-athletes that meet those standards, occasionally the Irish will get an Ismail or Kinder but for the most part we will have to rely on execution, experience, intelligence and the divine. I have nothing against Meyer, even considering his recruit poaching, or his system, I just think that Weis should be given more time to prove himself. We cannot compare the Florida's and Alabama's of the NCAA to Notre Dame. We need to ask ourselves how long would it take to turn around Stanford or Vanderbilt. These types of turnarounds will take longer and require patience from our supposedly loyal and supportive fan base, alumni and University staff.

Just watch the Florida/Florida St game. Yes florida has better players than we do but Meyer isnt letting up. Which I like in a coach. Its freakin football, if you get mad about someone running up the score..well then stop them.

Meyer is a hell of a coach.

Speed and academics have no correlation to each other.

Then why don't we seem to have the same speed? We have an excellent recruiting staff...what would seem to be the problem?

Developing that 40 yard time into football speed.

The words you cannot put in the same sentence with weis is.......

Developing Players

Urban Meyer, hands down, would be the best coach for ND, but it looks like we're going to have to settle for Brian Kelly.

Man oh man is Urban's offense fun to watch!!

I would settle for Brian Kelly and be happy. He just beat syracuse 30-10 with far less talent than what ND has. Its all about coaching!!! coaching!!!

I cannot comment on the actual development of the speed players because most of them are in their first or second year. I believe Allen and Tate may be are only legitimate sub 4.4 threats, and both of them are producing more than anticipated (Tate especially). I really don't think that anyone can correctly state that players aren't being developed. There was significant improvement across the whole team...I can't think of one area that has regressed from last year and comparisons to years prior are apples to oranges.

40 times dont mean anything. Its about football speed, vision, and actually being coached the correct way.

So you are saying that it is coaching and not god given talent that makes players like Demps, James, Maclin and Mcguffie so dangerous?

I agree that posted 40 times don't always translate to football success, Allen and Tate would probably match Florida's speedsters on posted 40 times while recruiting. I don't however think that the coaches are the reason that Demps lights up team after team and Armando just stays steady. There is something else there.

Are players playing football on a huge track with no pads? Yes it is god given talent to be fast but just because they are fast doesnt make them great football players. Look at Floyd, hes not the fastest WR but hes damn good.

Im just saying that weis isnt developing these players to their full potential.

The only system Urban recruits for is speed. Crist is our Tebow, and Clausen is our Leak.

This is what started my comments on speed. I just do not see who is not being developed by Weis and his staff. Run blocking is terrible, but pass blocking has improved markedly. Tate's improvement is immeasurable. Allen is running stronger and more consistently even though he has few holes to use. Clausen is much better than he was last year. Rudolph and Floyd are freshmen so their develpment would be minimal. On the defensive side of the ball, Bruton and Mccarthy have improved rather dramatically, Neal has his hand down this year and is severely undersized, Brian Smith seems to have improved with his switch from OLB to ILB. The only cases coming to my mind right now of people I would consider to be underperformin would be Toryan Smith and Justin Brown and I would be willing to bet that those to are hampering their own development. Just an opinion.

McGuffie got punked this year pretty good. He learned pretty well that jumping over kids in highschool is one thing, trying it in college is signing your own one way ticket to Concussionville.

Demps can freakin fly. He makes FSU look like OSU speed wise.

I'm watching that game too, I just don't see that kind of pure speed at Notre Dame now or in the immediate future. He is just a freak of nature.

The difference is that Meyer knows how to use guys effectively, and call plays that work. The right coach will take the talent we already have and make this team run like clockwork.

Hell Rainey aint no slouch. They got massive offensive power. Is that some kind of option formation? Tebow looks like a fullback running the ball. That shit aint fair.

Im not saying that Crist is exactly like Tebow, but similar size and speed, yes. Urban never is going to treat two players the same either. What we need to do is see if Urban has interest in coming to Notre Dame now, before firing Charlie, which if he beats U$C, wont happen anyways. Anyone else is just a " well hope this guy does well" pick, and im not into that. We need a very very proven coach, thats what we need.....and someone who can recruit doesnt hurt either.

I would much prefer this situation be handled after next season, I just really feel it is too early to jump ship. If Notre Dame is terrible next season and there is definitive proof that success will not happen with Weis then it is time to move on. Weis even said that it he wasn't competing for national championships in his fifth year that he should be fired.

What would Clausen and Crist do in an offense like Meyer's. Why can't people just become a little more patient. It's been 20 years since we reached the pinnacle of the sport anyway and while it would be nice to see the Irish with another championship, I wouldn't want to see Notre Dame become like every other football school with an itchy trigger finger. Notre Dame has stood for more than just wins and losses my entire life, we shouldn't sell her soul in the name of football. It's time to return to the Notre Dame of old...faith, values, honor. This needs to be handled the right way. Let Weis have a fifth year, then reevaluate after that season. It is time to restart that tradition.

This is what it is about!!

This USC game determines alot in the minds of the ND nation, and if we arent competitive, some actions are going to be taken, no doubt about it. Charlie will and should get another season if he is competitive with sc, but if he isnt, i would seek to find out what Meyers true interest in being the head coach of ND is.....if he likes us, ok. If not, keep charlie one more year because there just arent any better options. Information can be sought out without actually firing the coach. I agree charlie should get another season if we win or are competitive definately, if not, look to Urban, if Urban isnt interested, Keep charlie anyways. God i hope that all just made sense. That being said i hope we beat the hell out of USC.

I agree 100% There is no better option. Last coaching change there were some big names out there but now there just isn't any.(I don't think Meyer is a realistic option) I think ND will be much better next year with weis or another coach, so might as well just bring him back.

Thats what im saying, IF we find that Urban isnt interested at all, and actually seek the information from him specifically, then Keep charlie..... but i dont know why people think Meyer isnt a realistic option. "Notre Dame is my dream job"-Meyer Quote. Even his wife said he left his heart at Notre Dame when they moved to Flordia. He is an option and should be sought for information if this game is as nasty as the talking heads say its going to be.

Wow. Halftime of USC and its looking like the critics were right, sadly enough. Actually they were technically wrong, most of them called a 30 pt spread, but its looking more like 50. Time to look to this guy, see if there is interest.....isnt looking like charlie is going to be able to pull a job out of anything to do with this game or season. Come on Urban renew this teams hopes! Opinions anyone?

The hubris of ND fans is beyond belief. Urban told you no once, thats right...he said NO THANKS!! He is about to win another National Championship in Florida...to think you can cherry pick your coaches when ever you get tired of the one you want is beyond belief
