I've said my peace in other threads but I want to state some of the obvious...

There are currently 2 recruiting classes (Frosh and Sophs) that were Top 10 (the Frosh were #1) and this years class will also be Top 10.

That will put 75 big-time football players on the roster next year...2010 we will have 100.

The wins are coming...a change would be detrimental to ND!

Charlie MUST stay!!!

Listen, if you are basing Charlies staying or going on a recruiting class rating then you are mislead. #1 these recruits have to pan out. #2 these recruits have to be cultivated.

Charlie needs to go now before Brian Kelly or Brady Hoke get swept up by someone else with a coaching vacancy.

Charlie must go!
His recruiting classes have been highly ranked... but the other facet to a good recruiting class is filling needs.... and to me he's done a poor job of this.

His classes have lacked the highest quality of OL and DL players... that's where you really make a difference. And he hasn't gotten it done. Sorry.

Never thought I'd ever hoped for USC to lay the smacketh down on us... but for the good of this program in the future... Charlie has to go... and if that means we get embarrassed tonight... I'm willing to fall on the sword for the sake of the program.

I'd like to see him get one more year if it brings about a new OL coach and some non-brain dead play calling. I have very little confidence in him now though, and I would not be heart broken if he was replaced, as long as its a top name.

If he stays that means all the GOOD if not GREAT coaches that will be available after this season will be gone. Do you honestly think Weis will turn this team around? I dont! Time for a high profile COLLEGE coach(Urban,Peterson or Kelly)

Lets not muddle the issue. All these assistant coaches are under the direction of Charlie. None of them operate independently or without going through Charlie.
Heh, I like Charlie a lot. And I had hope against hope that he would be here a long time and turn around this program. He is ND, he is an alum, he is tradition, he is feisty and he doesn't take crap from anyone. Facts are facts, it is not working out. And in the last 2 games he just looks defeated.
I cheer for ND every week. I become an armchair coach after the game, until the next game. Like we all do. But when so many people can see the glaring holes in the program, and for whatever reason its chosen not to be acknowledged, well I can't stomach that anymore.
Hindsight being 20/20, the SDSU game was a foreteller of things to come. Playing the theoreticals, yes we could be 8-3 or 9-2 right now. The fact of the matter is, I think we are closer to 3-8 and 4-7 right now.
Is it improvement when you fight some guy thats 6'6" and 270lbs of solid muscle who pounds you into pulp, when your next fight is against a 5'1" 89lb skin & bones where you win, but squeak by, by the skin of your teeth? Because thats where we are gentlemen. Last year we had a harder schedule and got pasted, this year the load was reduced tremendously and while our stats are up we have lost to some pretty mediocre to piss poor teams.

Lets quickly analyze the schedule so far:
SDSU - The only thing preventing us from certain disaster was a TD saving hit, that was really as close as you could get.

UM - 7 turnovers, without those we lose this game.

MSU - Ran all over us, be we were atleast competitive here.

Purdue - We pretty much stomped them.

Stanford - Jimmy lit it up, but still way too close.

UNC - Again, competitive. Can't seal the deal.

UW - Domination here, thankfully Locker was out.

Pitt - Played hard, but again Can't seal the deal.

BC - I think ND went to the wrong stadium here...

Navy - Another close one, but thats been standard fare in this rivalry lately. But we did hold them to 170 yards!

Syracuse - I dont think anything needs to be said here.

USC - I'm no fortune teller, but if they don't hang 70 on us I will be shocked.

I am not happy with being a middle of the road football team, that competes with MAC schools. This program, those players and us fans have to expect more from one of the greatest schools in the history of college football.

and last year wer would have lost most of these games. we are a huindred percent better than last year. i say give charlie one more year. let his classes mature. and lets see if they continue to grow
i hate seeing some people in here saying shit about how they hate urban leyer now they are on his nuts. some of you hate his recruiting tactics but what if its for us then its ok. check you morals. dont be a fence jumper if you hate him because hes winning then ok but dont say you hate the way hes runs the show and he has no class then the second you here he might come on board you jump into his jockstrap hoping to find a spot on his sack. either way i thik c and co need 1 more year but i think there has to be adjustments made to the staff. latina -gone line is a joke still and im sure you guys can fill in more if you want

The only "piss poor" team we have lost to was Syracuse. NC, Pitt, Michigan State and even BC have spent time in the Top 25 this year. If you are in the Top 25 then you are better than mediocre. The negativity surrounding Notre Dame these days is exhausting. Let Weis build this program from the ground up, with good STUDENT-athletes and support him and these kids in the process. It is time for the fans to support Notre Dame...so tired of the negativity, so tired.

I support Notre Dame. I always have and always will. I just wont support an arrogant loser of a coach who thinks he has a "Schematic" advantage and who flashes his stupid super bowl rings to these great recruits that he cant coach.

I am not saying we will win, but I dont see how they come close to 70. USC's offense is not that great. While there defense might be better than some NFL teams, if they rout us, it will be more along the lines of 35-3, something like that. Their offense is very overrated. Its not the Leinart/Bush/Jarrett offense.

I think you name 2 big names that will probably NOT be available after this season. Urban Meyer is in the middle of a national title run. Unless he's some kind of nutcase, he's not readily fielding offers. He might be giving passing notice to things, but I think he has some more important things to attend to at this point. Ditto Chris Petersen. He's making close to a million a year. While I can certainly see these coaches possibly leaving, I just don't understand why some people think they are going to get plucked up by some school at any moment.
