Whomever the individual is they need to be a college coach with head coaching experience. It'd be nice to have some name recognition to help ease any defections in recruiting, but a lot of the "big name" guys aren't going anywhere. I would suggest some people who could be persuaded to move:

Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech.
Mike Riley, Oregon State.
Pat Hill, Fresno State.
Bronco Mendenhall, BYU.

That's a short list of people I would be happy with seeing head to South Bend.

Not a Bad suggestion. Gruden would be the ultimate. Turner Gill from Buffalo, he has turned that program from zero to division winners, he will be on a lot of schools lists.

I'm still with Charlie for at least one more year, but seems the best ND coaches were highly intense mofos, Singletary reminds me of that intensity.

He seems like he could lose control real easy. He has proven absolutely nothing as a coach. Not even a playoff appearance, that I know of, even as an assistant. He is fiery. He just does not impress me as a head coach. Loved him as a player though.

Me too. I think (based on absolutely no "facts") that his single - and impressive for LB minded "crush, kill, destroy" attitude is good for coaching linebackers in college (I just confused myself with that last attempt at a sentence). Seems to me that best ND coaches demanded crush kill destroy defense, but also employed that attitude on offense.

I would be happy if Urban came in as coach... Lou would be a great story and should be hired as a recruiter but as a coach again I don't think so.

I agree, no pro coaches... the only exception to that is Tom Coughlin from the NY Giants. He is an ex marine drill sargent and won at college level.

Charlie may not go Monday... it very well could be Tuesday. If the Urban Myer rumor has an teeth, then nothing may happen till after SEC title game.

Just so you guys know all this speculation is not healthy! It gives the media a lot of ammunition and you guys know how we are magnet for the media.

It think Charlie Wies is the guy! I think he will be here next year and he will turn it around. I refuse to jump off his band wagon until next year! The reason is because I look at it from a big picture perspective! He's gotten the players but some under acheived and some were injured. The majority is improving but they are young. I know some will say well he had 4 years so no excuses. True but many important players their were recruited are not here and that hurts!

I would write more but im gonna get in trouble.... All I'm asking is do some research on the program and find out why are offense has been struggling before you guys bust out the firing squad!
