Why are people talking about Urban possibly being the next coach of ND? I live in Utah and was here for the whole fiasco during the last ND coaching hire. He had his chance to be ND's coach. Everyone in Utah expected Meyer to choose ND as well as alot of ND fans. He choose Florida.

its not that everyone is actually believing he would come to ND, its the fact of a statement made in his autobiography. see page one for details. its more of wishful hoping than people actual thinking he would come, but the statements in the book did sound kinda good towards ND, which he coached at before in the early 90s.

So is it completely out of the question that if we get smoked again by USC, and Florida loses in the SEC championship game, that Swabrick will pick up the Batphone and dial up the Gainesville Dynasty Restoration Society?

I think Urban would have to think long and hard about his options here. He's got one more season with Tebow, and MAYBE one more with Percy Harvin. I think Florida then 'drops' back into the pack with the LSU's of the SEC. Not saying that's a bad place to be, but where 8-4 is just as possible as 10-2/11-1 every year.

I suppose this scenario could be exactly the same next year, with Tebow graduating it would seem like a lead-pipe lock to me. But if Notre Dame is really Urban's dream job, is he willing to take the risk that Charlie won't get it turned around next season? Can anyone really see the administration letting Charlie go next year if he were to go, say, 9-3?

I have always wanted Charlie to succeed, I seem to be in a diminishing minority that can appreciate his perceived arrogance. However, it is difficult for arrogance to be an admirable quality when you are leading a .500 football program.

I think if Florida wins the SEC title game, then its not possible because Urban is preparing for a national championship game, and Charlie gets year 5. December 7 will be an interesting day for Gator and Irish fans if Florida loses.

Just my thoughts from the nosebleeds.

If Charlie is let go, Meyer would be my first choice.

I live in the ground zero of the SEC. I hear all the horror stories about Meyer from the UGA and Bama fans. The same type stories the UGA and Gator fans tell about Saban. The same type stories that the Bama fans USED to tell about Saban, before he became God Of Alabama. Every program has the Big Bad Wolf.

He hasn't been caught cheating. Maybe because he's really good at it or maybe because he doesn't cheat. The negative recruiting is part of the game. Good on that Charlie doesn't do it as far as we know. Did anyone ever know for a fact that Meyer told Omar to lie? We don't. Omar may have decided that all on his own.

We do know that he has called Notre Dame his "dream job". On many occasions including while coaching Florida. I like that.

He is a devout Catholic. I like that.

He put his family first when making the decision to go to Florida. The reasons make total sense. I like that.

He is from the Mid West. I like that. Home ties.

He has taken chances on borderline kids. I like that too, sorry. We hear about the ones that screw up but what about the ones that were pretty much offered a lifeline?

He worked with Lou Holtz. I like that.

I don't think he has a buy out. I like that.

He wins. I really like that.

That said, I think this could happen but not next year. If Charlie turns things around, not at all. If not...
