I am as frustrated as any ND fan anywhere in the nation. I bleed Blue and Gold every play, every Saturday, HOWEVER what I saw with snowball throwing at our players was absolutely disgusting!!!! I cannot understand how a person feels they have any right at all to throw anything at our kids. They pour their hearts out and get disrespected like this.

Further, what do you think our chances are of landing a single one of the recruits we had at the game after seeing how our players get treated on a bad day??

If you were one of the jerks throwing snowballs, I hope you get the same treatment at some point in your life. Get a grip!!!

Finally, this does not change my feeling that Charlie's time in South Bend has come to a close. I have been a huge supporter of his, but he is plain and simple not getting it done.

If I were there I would have been aiming for Weis. He's such a huge target anyway, I just dont see how he didnt get hit! I NEVER would have thrown anything at the players though. I'm EMBARRASSED to be an ND fan.

Was it students? Or just a bunch of jagoffs from Philly? It was quite disturbing to watch. Times have changed, I am old school now I guess. I still like the kids, we just need something.

Just another example on how far the program and the school has fallen. What in hell is going on????

It was students. Mostly upperclassmen, and they were incredibly wasted. I think it started throwing snowballs into the crowd, but it just got way out of hand. I think at first ppl were aiming for the camera guy on a crane, but they missed and hit the team. It was pretty stupid for sure. People starting throwing snowballs at the state troopers and one guy went away in cuffs

Snowballs

Snowballs

The snowballs were coming from the student section...

If the team was better the fans would be too busy cheering than to through snowballs... but it would have happened anyway.

Its just snow... nobody was hurt.

I would be more worried about the boos coming from the HOME crowd on SENIOR DAY.

Booing is one thing, uncalled for, but throwing snowballs at young men who devote most of their collegiate life to that school and those "fans" is fucking disgusting. I would love to fight each and everyone of those scumbags who threw a snowball at those players. After playing football for a long time, and experiencing a senior day loss in college, the only thing I can imagine making it worse would be for my fellow students, and "friends" to do something like that. Truly makes me question being an ND fan. I can handle losing, but not embarassing the university like this, the story about it is front page on MSN. Great help for recruiting, way to go assholes.

In addition to this message board, I've read a few other message boards tonight. One of the big themes is what message did the students send to potential recruits by pelting the players with snowballs. Here's a better question: What kind of message did the ND coaching staff send by losing at home on senior day to a 2-8 team being coached by a guy who is fucking fired?

If I were a recruit, the lasting impressions of this game would be watching ND run for 41 yards against the 107th (all though they probably cracked the top 100 now) rushing defense in the country and watching ND lose at home to a 2-8 team. Next week some of these recruits will be at the USC-ND game on their visit to SC and you know what they'll see: No snow and a raucous, boisterous crowd celebrating a 45+ point USC victory over ND. Hmm....which sounds better to you?

Talking about the snowball throwing is completely ignoring the bigger issue: why were the students tempted to do it in the first place.

From what i understand this is what was happening. Students throwing snowballs at each other, a few of which made it to the field area. I'm sure on top of that there were a very small amount of students stupid enough to actually aim at camera men, police, and players. It is certainly an embarrassing scene considering the recruits we had visiting today.

Yeah my brother made a funny statement after seeing that BS from the fans. He said TD Jesus is not holding up his hands for a touchdown...he is holding them up saying what the heck is going on here! ND is become more and more just another school after everyone of the incidents...I am ashamed to be a ND fan after seeing that crap!!!!

I personally think that you should always support your team..... If you feel like booing GO HOME! Why are you there if your not enjoying the game! On another note any student that was caught throwing snowballs should be at practice on Monday and do hitting drills with the team....

We pride ourselves on being such an educated school with more class than any other school ...... In my opinion the that looks worse than losing!

We are tempted by many things!!! I dont care if we go 0-12 you never throw things at the players ...... Yeah we lost but show class! Trust me I'm not happy we lost but we should always be behind our team, thats what true fans do.

Is this getting blown out of proportion because it was a loss? Not to mention the fact that Notre Dame still get national attention and throwing snowballs towards the sideline can be turned into a story? On our Senior Day in '96, we threw marshmallows for the entire game, and I am sure that more than a few made their way to the sidelines. We won that game 62-0, and don't remember hearing a thing about it.

And please, no one with the snowballs vs. marshmallows analysis. Unless we were putting batteries in them, I say no harm no foul. I would say disinterested fans, not disgusting ones. And perhaps 'that's' what's so disgusting.

Notre Dame = Best pre-game experience in CFB
ND Stadium = worst atmosphere for a football game in CFB (1994-present)

The students finally just caught on.

This is no different than a business. When Notre Dame asks for:

-Our time in the form of watching games or traveling to watch the team play
-Our money in the form of ticket and merchandise purchases and donations to the school

Than we fans have a right to be pissed off when the product on the field sucks. People have every right to boo. I never condoned throwing the snowballs; I'm simply asking all of the people, like yourself, who want to make the snowballs the hot button topic coming out of this week, to cut the B.S. and look at the bigger issue: Coaching. Forget the getting behind the team, cheerleading crap. Get off of your perch and look around: nobody on this board was at the game throwing snowballs so arguing the merits of this isolated incident is going to affect change amongst nobody. I get so sick of people who think that they are on the moral high ground preaching down to the rest of us.

I guess all the talk about ND joining a conference has made the school administrators laugh their collective ass off because, it seems, they would like to join the Ivy League. If that's the direction they want to take it's fine with me--I would just like to be told as much so I don't waste anymore time believing that this team is going to "return to glory". The Ivy League would be perfect: no more bowl game losses and ND could boast about their graduation rate and standards all day long....of course nobody would be watching but they don't really care about that, or so it appears.

That guy drilled the trooper with a snowball, we were sitting right above that guy. That trooper was on a mission when he climbed up the wall to go get'em. I was embarrassed to see that happen at Notre Dame stadium. It really reflected poorly on our fans, especially when Syracuse scored and were getting hit with snowballs. That should never happen, don't throw anything at any players, ours, there's or anyone else.
