the feeling of we are better than this team and have the talent and speed and toughness to control them. this is what notre dame always made me feel when i was a kid... almost like they were invincible.

TONIGHT i was driving home from work in the first quarter and we were on defense and the announcer said, (insert name) notre dame just has too much speed on defense for washington.

i got home and watched the game and just felt that feeling of superiority. it was great to feel it because it has been a very long time since i felt this team was superior and showed it to the fullest.

does this mean we win out, who knows and who cares because i am so so happy to feel this way again after a game.

i am truely proud of this team, they are learning and learning very fast how to be a winner, they have shown me what i wanted to see which was intensity and anger and that over used "intestinal fortitude" that is talked about so often. there is a long way to go to get to the promised land but the last few weeks including that terrible loss to unc have made me proud of these guys.

Okay so here we go. Good post first off. I HATE to be negative......BUT, it was Washington. We ARE getting better but we havent really played anyone good this year and the 2 teams that are half way good we lost. So until we can go on the road to Usc and win or beat any ranked team for that matter I just cant say "I feel superior" to the other teams.

Notre Dame is my passion so dont think I am bashing them because win or lose I will love them forever. I just cant say that we are there yet. Claussen was downright terrible last night. This was the WORST and I mean WORST secondary he played all year. He looked like the Claussen of last year. Alot of sloppiness in last nights game if you ask me. JUST SAYIN folks. We arent there yet!

NDOM I will agree with you to a point. I will not say Clausen looked terrible, but he definately was out of sync. 15-28 for 207 yds and a TD is not he Clausen of last year, not even close. But it is also not the Clausen of the last couple of weeks. I think it is tough to stay mentally sharp against a team that you know you are rolling over. Also the bye probably attributed to the rustiness. So I wont say he looked terrible, to be honest I think he looked like a sophomore. He just hasnt looked like one the last couple of weeks. And I dont think the original post in this thread was meant to say we now will dominate teams, just that it was nice to see us dominate one team. It hasnt happened in awhile.

FWIW, 7 points is the least UW has scored all season. And we all know it was *really* a shutout.

I always wonder how much worse it would get if we had actually lost. We did exactly what I wanted to do against UW....the only exception being was JC not being sharp.
We did better on the ground than I hoped, and our D was phenomenal considering they helped with dropped passes (although we did drop a coupla huge ones as well).
All in all....be happy. We're gonna cut the 'Stache' off next week.

I would have preferred to send Ty off with a few more touchdowns. But this is pretty good. Clausen appeared mortal for the first time in a few games, Floyd is a stud. How about BWalk and a few field goals.

Also, when the hell are we going to be ranked. I'm hoping a big win next Saturday will dump us into the Top25 for sure.

We're #34 and #30 in the polls this week with the Recieving Votes so we should be close next week if we can beat Pitt.

Clausen looked to me like he was trying too hard. Almost as if he thought he should put up about 400 against this team. He forced it too much.

Loved the fake punt in the third quarter and the reverse to Golden. Great job boys. Lets hand one just like it to Wanny!

It was also nice to hear commentators saying positive things some of the time about ND. Although the positivity is short lived because the next game we are back with my two favorites - Haden and Hammond! Yippppeeeeee!

Also, I really liked seeing some of Jonas Gray. Officially something like 9 rushes for 61 yards is pretty good to me. Can't wait to see how that position plays out in years to come. Should be as much fun to watch as the receiver position battles.

i by no means was trying to say we were there. i hope it didnt come across that way. i fully realize that washington is not a mid caliber team. it however has been a very long time since we really were head and shoulders better than any team we have played. especially on defense which is where i think it matters most.

i have definitely seen some things from this team this year, some progression. and that was what i was hoping to see this year progress. i really am quite happy with the squad at this point even though i realize we still have a long long way to go.

i however think we have gotten much better as a team since we lost to msu and would love to have another shot at them at some point this year. we really are beginning to have an issue beating msu at this point and its quite annoying :)

Yes, beat Pitt and the Irish should be "close" to the top 25. Of course a lot will be dependant upon the teams that are currently in that 22nd or so and 30th range. Several of those teams lose and the Irish win and I feel like they'll be knockning on the door of a top 25 ranking. It would have helped the Irish more IF Pitt would have won last week and then the Irish knocking them off.

Very nice post. After last year's "thing", I have lost all concern for rankings. I am really enjoying watching these guys come together as a team. They protect each other and help each other out. They are providing me, the most important person in, well, the world, with an underlying good mood, which is quickly overriding my underlying, well, bad mood.

It's an over/under thing.

Don't mean to put any pressure on teenagers.

(But next time they lose, I'm gonna punch a puppy. And pee in public.)

How did I miss this post? Perfect dude. I thought the helmet might tip over ala Boomer Schooner.

Dorks.

Too funny.
