i think we'll see a lot ore of robert blanton and gary gray today. especially blanton. as cocky as this kid is and hes goin against a good passing offense...this is a perfect matchup for him to prove himself.

purdue, boston college,michigan state, these three schools have come around to haunt us over the years like no others. beating us is the closest they can get to a national championship.spoilers at best there on the outside looking in but definetly not to be overlooked all we have to do is show up and play irish football.the rest will take care of itself.it`s our destiny were notre dame

First road game out of the way. If the o-line can open some holes than we're going to roll Purdue. If they don't it will be a tight game but ND will win!!!

The O Line has opened some holes this year. Not those big gaping holes that you see at places at USC and Ohio State, but there have been holes there. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that we don't have tailbacks who can A) hit that hole fast, before it closes up, or B) make the first guy miss, in the hole, and continue on downfield. I'm not saying that Hughes, Allen, et. al, don't play hard. I just don't think they are very talented. Atheltic? Sure! But talented tailbacks? Not so much. If you go back and look at the Holtz years: even when there were not gaping holes in the line of scrimmage, ND often gained 4 or 5 yards (or more) on most of their runs. You would see the Brooks Brothers making the first would be tackler miss, almost every time. Even massive Jerome Bettis could put a move on a defender, as easily as he could just run them over.
