I don't care what espn writers/broadcasters/journalists/idiots (whatever you want to call them) say about this game, it wasn;t given to us, we took it!

Yeah of course they have more yards than us we got the ball deep in their territory 3 times!

They forgot to mention that the same d-line that made tebow look like a pop warner kid did squat against us, they also forgot to mention that mich's stellar secondary got burned on more than a few occassions.

But thats alright, im sure that our defense knocking the snot out of mich's offense was all part of mich's plan right? they also practiced fumbling kickoffs and punts all week I suppose.

The fact of the matter is we played hard and intense and never let off the throttle. We blew out mich and we still suck according to everyone else.

Look, I don't care how ugly these games are, I don't care if we don't pass for 350 and run for 200, the only stat I care about is the score. And so far in 2 games we lead in that statistic.

I don't know how good this Irish team is but I do know that this team just took a huge step in believing in themselves. And you are what you believe you are, gone are the days where they just didn't think they were good enough, this team has got a swagger and an offense full of hungry young players.

Confidence is what they were missing, but No More.

Okay, but Ringer put up 282 on Florida Atlantic and they could only hang 17 points on them. Ringer will get his yardage and I am okay with that, but I guarantee he won't put up 300. Ringer cannot beat us by himself. Why should we curb our enthusiasm? What the hell is wrong with enthusiasm? We are 2-0 and getting better each week. That is something to be happy about.

The order of these first 3 games is perfect. A cupcake (supposedly) in SD State and then a Michigan team with this new offense for game 2 and now a very good Michigan State team. The first two games have put us in a much better position to beat Sparty as compared to if we played them 1st or 2nd.

But make no mistake, they will be one of the best teams we play this year, along with SC and perhaps North Carolina and maybe Pitt.

msu is one of the top teams we play yesterday the team hopefully enjoyed the victory but today its back to work for them. this is going to be the toughest team they play so far and have to go in with the confidence and swagger from last game and execute on all sides of the ball. special teams will be huge again

LOL, I'm a sucker for puns! Hey Phork from York, we're not great yet, I'll be the first to admit. I'm not even sure we are good yet, that remains to be seen. BUT WE WON THE GAME, WE SEIZED THE GAME; it wasn't gift wrapped. We caught an early break, but you have to be in position to make INTs, you have to be have heart to get after fumbles, you have to have technique to force fumbles, you have to be good to keep your QB clean, etc. ND did that, and now we're 2-0, and that can't be taken away, no matter the rhetoric that you try to spin. Let us enjoy one win bro!

Heh no one is happier about the UofM win then I am. But the fact of the matter is that we could have easily lost that game. I am not a pessimist, I am a realist. I was at the game, and I watched the play. We are just not a good football team at the moment. I refuse to get my hopes up only to be beat down time and time again. Time will tell with this team. But as of right now, I have severe guarded optimism.

guarded optimism is 1 thing, but saying ringer is going to rip 300 on us is another. all the know-it-alls thought that we had no chance against mich's stellar d-line and they did next to nothing. msu is a better team than um and purdue is probably better than them, both are winnable, but a split is very likely and as long as we are competitive in both i will be fine with that.

I watch sports because on any given day, any team can go out and beat any other team. I watch sports because a hockey team of college kids can go out and beat the Russian juggernaut. I watch sports because a guy like Jim Valvano can go running around the court after winning like a crazy man just looking for someone to hug. I watch sports because a team like Boise State can run one of the most ballsy plays I have ever seen to beat Oklahoma. The list goes on and on and on.

I watch for the joy and the happiness that is inherent in sports especially in college athletics. I don't ever want to say I don't want to hope because I don't want to be beat down again. I will always hope. I will always believe my team can beat their team any day of the week because I have seen it happen time and time again. I have to put up with crap in so many other aspects of my week that sports is about the only place where magic can still happen. Whether its a seemingly impossible win or something like Mike Anello recovering a fumble and running it for a TD - it might happen at any given moment. believe because I know that one of these days I am going to see something amazing again. That's why I watch sports.

Honestly, last year we won over Duke by a score of 28-7 and then beat Stanford 21-14! As I see it, and feel free to interject if I'm incorrect, we are currently on a 4 game win streak. By my calculations we have outscored our opponents 98- 51 in those 4 games! Optimism is at it's prime! All you naysayers need to go back to your little hole in the ground and shut the heck up! GO IRISH!!!

Me too. I am thinking play calling and entire offensive system is making team look better. O-line still looks weak, but now they have easy angle blocks and element of surprise. Good system can make a punk look like a man.
