What is believed to be Jon Tenuta's first quip to the Notre Dame media — perhaps first quip to the media anytime, anywhere — was followed by the warning that his words better not be twisted, contorted or embellished. "I've got a damn good lawyer," Notre Dame's first-year assistant head coach/defense proclaimed as he walked away. The quip? "I'm a laid-back guy," he said. Maybe the lawyer thing was career quip No. 2. Maybe not.

Laid-back he is definitely not, nor bubbly, nor chatty, nor likely to break into song.

Or smile when he reads that last sentence.
