First I want to ask if if there are any other kids contemplating transferring. I looked at the Blue and gold practice notes every day and there are always a few people missing, I think yesterday they mentioned that Duncan, Parris, McDonald, and Schmidt weren't at practice. I remember reading the same thing before Jackson announced he was transferring, I hope they are just taking care of injuries and not disgruntled.

Secondly some of these kids transferring really puzzle me, throwing away a chance to earn a prestiges degree from Notre Dame for a little more playing time? Do they all think they are gonna be NFL superstars? Ronald Talley for instance left ND for Delaware, he threw away a the chance of earning a valuable degree to be a superstar in a sub division and make it to the NFL. But where is he now? Not in the NFL and not with an ND degree.

Also as much as losing a player sucks, its not a problem that only ND faces. We lost 11 players since 05.
-8 transfers in Hord, Jones, Frazer, Carufel, Rueland, Prince, Jackson, and Nagel.
-2 career ending injuries in Webb and Hand.
-1 Player in Hiben left to concentrate on academics.

Michigan lost 12 players.
-9 Transfers from Jason Forcier, Eugene Germany, McKinney, Mister Simpson, Justin Schifano, Justin Boren, Ryan Mallet, Cobrani Mixon, Quintin Patilla.
-1 Career ending injury for Antonio Bass.
-2 Marques Slocum and Quinton Woods flunked out.

USC lost 11 players.
-7 Transfers Walker Ashley, Michael Coleman, Joshua Tatum, Antwine Perez, Emmanuel Moody, Vincent Joseph, Jamere Holland.
-1 Left to concentrate on acadmeics, Mozique McCurtis.
-3 Alfred Rowe, Troy Van Blarcom, and Kenny Ashley flunked out.

McDonald has been nursing a bad hamstring, IIRC. Duncan had an undisclosed injury, i believe. If Schmidt missed any practice, it must have been only one, since i recall reading about him getting reps at TE.

from what i understand, the practices have been pretty physical, even to the point where a number of guys have minor concussions. that's a good thing (the physical practices, not the injuries), so long as the injuries are sore muscles or resolve themselves in less than a week. we obviously don't want serious injuries.

I agree that transfers are not always a bad thing and are happening every year throughout the college football world.

Sometimes kids believe they are good enough to be in the NFL, but are not being given their fair shot at it.

Sometimes they just want to play.

I agree that it's short-sighted to throw away a chance to get a degree from a top school...but when you are 19 you don't think that way.

LMI, your exactly right. Many of us see it as a scholarship from ND but an 18-19-20 year old kid just wants to play football and make the NFL.

Robby Parris was missing from practice on Saturday. Anyone know what happened with him?

with the level of talent coming in he really must have felt there was no way he was going to see the field
