Just visited the Sooner site..

Apparently, it was a "prank" by a Husker fan. If you go to the IP provided in the URL, it links to this guys homepage.

I have my opinion of what should happen to this guy, but they are not very nice, so I'll keep them to myself.

Just read an article talking to Landry Jones' father in which he said

"I'm going to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law,” said Kevin Jones, Landry's father. "I've got deep enough pockets to do it.”

Its amazing how people just don't think sometimes, this guy is gonna find himself in a lot of trouble here soon. I mean you have to know what going to far is, and going after innocent college kids' reputations just isn't right.

That was down right silly and classless. You just don't do stuff like that.

Discusting that they would write the story w/o checking any sources or easily confirming or denying the facts w the police.

good point grizz. while the prank went too far, i dont think it does any harm to the perceived character of the two ou players. everyone will know by the end of the day that it was a prank. the news sources that printed this should be reprimanded more so for putting out a story without doing any research whatsoever. sports journalism has become a joke and this is a prime example.

pranks are a fun side of our culture. however when it stands the chance of ruining someone or harming somebodys career then it may be best not to do it. i got a laugh out of it wheni found out it was a hoax but the papers that went out and spread it without doing thier investigating have someone to answer to

I guess I should retract a bit of my distain after thinking about it.

I mean, how long would we have even remembered this "prank"? A week? A Month? It didn't do any harm long-term, or short-term for that matter, to the players. They guy who published it is actually getting more ridicule then the players themselves.

But, for one of the fathers to threaten to "ruin" the guy may be a bit over the top. The guy made a tasteless prank, and is paying for it publicly.

Take a few jabs at the guy and move on.

Making someone pay financially for the rest of their lives for a prank we would have forgotten by next Tuesday hardly seems justified.

That used to shock me, but not anymore. A Lexington news channel, and a few Louisville news channels following suit, all reported last year that Billy Donovan was going to UK. Done deal was one of their claims. He didn't.

Just this week, that same Lexington news channel reported that Rolandan "Deuce" Finch (early ND RB recruit) had committed to UK. He hadn't.

The source for both of those news cast was admitted to be Catspause.com, the UK Rivals site.

When you're using a fan site for a source, there are serious problems in the world of journalism. Obviously, it happens in other states as well and not just KY.
