Have you seen PSU's depth on OL? It's nonexistent. Rumor has it that PSU was selling him real HARD on depth.

There's gotta be a little more to the decision though. While I wouldn't say ND's OT depth is "nonexistent" (as PSU's apparently is), it is definitely slim. With his size and talent he would likely see immediate time in a back-up roll at ND. Then with the graduation of Sam Young he would likely take over the RT spot as a sophomore. The tipping point (if I remember correctly) was the strong relationship he has with the OL coach at PSU. Unless the coaching change situation involves the OL coach, it seems unlikely that it alone would change his mind (I can't see any recruit lamenting the departure of a 90 year old coach that cannot relate to them anyway). However, I hope something does happen to change his mind because we need some big bookends to support all those large books we've get in the middle of the line.

so true. as the interior line seems to get better and better with everyday the tackle positions still seem a little slim.

From what I've seen, it would be very hard to believe he is re-considering his
commitment at this point.

If he has verbally committed to Penn St, how can he be an ND lock???? Has he even visited the campus or talked to any of our coaches???

He has visited the campus many times. He was considered by some to be a lock before he committed to PSU because he comes from an Irish friendly area and grew up rooting for ND. There was some talk on some other boards that he was mislead about JoePa's future and what the coaching situation will look like in the coming years. I haven't heard anything from him or anyone close to him to give me the impression that he is even thinking about opening things back up. Obviously if he did it would be great for us but at this time I see nothing that leads me to believe that it will happen.

I read on one of the sites (sorry, I cannot remember which) that he thought it was crazy these rumors of him not staying at PSU. He mentioned that he did not like the schools recruiting him going negative against Jo Pa and his age- saying he was more interested in the position coach and the overall program and not just the HC.

I believe there is no chance he decommits from PSU, but that is just my opinion.
