Would like to see him commit in the next 3 weeks. I could wait for that. Just don't know what advantage we would have in forcing him to make a decision this week if the #2 guy is said to be ready to pull the trigger upon an offer.

maybe they like different things about both guys. ive heard one kicks the deep ball on kickoffs but the oter is more accurate at fireld goals, either way they are both needed aspects of the kicking game

I would lean more toward Hopkins if he can punt as well as advertised. It would not help the team much if you had to tie up a travel roster spot for a "kickoff specialist".

I don't think either Hopkins or Tausch are being considered for punter duties. Ben Turk (profile already set up) was offered as a Punter.

More power...believe he hit for like 65% on his FG at this camp i seen...BUT on Kickoffs he averaged to put the ball 3 yards out the end zone.

i defenatly like the kickoff stat we really need help in that area either our kickers getn better or landing this kid. we will find out this season if our kickers are getn better

yeah kickoff are so under rated. stating at the twenty makes it so much harder than starting at the 35 or 40. we need a kickoff boomer. either from our boys or a recruit.

I say sure Hopkins might be the better kicker, but if Tausch wants to be a part of the Irish that bad then we should give it to him and let Hopkins deal with the fact that he just isn't ready for the Irish

i wonder what goes through thier heads? i dont mean that in a bad way but to have all of these schools fighting over you. to me a kicker should reeally be about the accademics. they hardly ever get drafted. so they can usually try out for any nfl team they want. right? but i wonder how long charlie and co. are gonna wait on this kid? rumor was he had til wednesday well here it is thursday.

I think most kickers are brought in as undrafted free agent signees. The highest percentage, any way.

so draft status really isnt a factor in most cases unless youre the oakland raider who take janikowski in the first round...but then again we all question oaklands draft I.Q.

first, there was no deadline for him to commit. the wednesday "deadline" (if it was true) was when the offer to Tausch was going out.

CW and staff don't make offers with deadlines, other than if they tell a recruit they are only taking so many recruits at a given position, once that position fills, that offer is no longer actionable. but it doesn't have a deadline to accept.

also, word is the offer to Tausch may go out Monday.

I read it the exact same way, IM...don't worry about it. I read he had until Wednesday to decide before the offer went out to Tausch.
