O'Brien visited last year during the Georgia Tech game. While that game wasn't exactly the best recruiting pitch (come to ND where all of our QB's get pummelled) the fact that he took a visit to the campus is a positive sign.

Currently has offers from Maryland, Duke and East Carolina. So we know grades aren't an issue.

O'Brien moved from Minnesota before HS, so he's familiar with ND and the South Bend area. Too bad he moved, because he would have gone to Cretin-Durham, which sends a number of kids to ND, the latest being 2008 WR Michael Floyd.

He has the grades, he has the size, he has good things to say about ND, he has been to campus. Most importantly, he has the perfect name to become the next Irish QB.

Having recently received an offer from Maryland, it appears O'Brien is looking at them and Duke as his top two and may decide between them soon.
