Cowherd spent an hour on this today... first we stated breifly he can't blame ND for asking, then he spent 40 minutes doing just that... he went from I agree with Rutgers to ND isn't even that popular anymore because they get 2.4 TV ratings to USC is awesome b/c they get 2.0 ratings to ND is dumbing down the schedule which is pusssy (see UConn, Army, Pitt, BC as proof to that) to SC plays anyone and are gods on the grid-iron (see, Virginia, Idaho, Hawaii, Arkansas as proof for that apparently) all in record time... then ended with, "I don't hate ND, All I'm saying is win a bowl game!!!!" as well as stating "and I'm no SC homer"

he turned the whole issue into a "here's why USC is great and ND sucks!!!" rant in one comerical break

sheesh

Christ...Cowherd couldn't find his own stones with 3 hints and a magnifying glass. His opinion is not relevant.

Navy's still a cupcake. We also scheduled Miami, USC, VT, Cal, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

When did this turn into a strength of schedule argument aniways?

It didn't. I have no problems with the Buckeyes' schedule. I was just remembering that alot of Buckeye fans have bashed ND for playing Navy every year, and thought it was ironic that the same Midshipmen suddenly ended up on Ohio State's schedule. You can't blame tOSU for the MAC schools on their schedule. That was an agreement between the two conferences, to play a rotation for X amount of years. The individual schools don't even do the scheduling, if I remember right. I think the Conference offices handle the scheduling of the "series".

A deal to play some football games was considered by 2 parties. Both sides could not come to an agreement, so they parted ways. No harm, no foul. Next case.

I think that playing Notre Dame offers teams intangibles that no other program can bring. So, if Notre Dame asks for a deal like the one offered to Rutgers, so be it.

UCONN obviously saw advantages for themselves and accepted. If ND was forcing teams to take these deals, that would be different but as Rutgers turning it down shows, that is not the case. UCONN will benefit from this in the exposure and the possibility of being able to say they beat Notre Dame. They are a program trying to move up. Its a good deal for them.
