No, don't know for certain. but I just posted in Theo Riddick's thread that i believe he is announcing wednesday.
I've heard that ND is looking very good with Theo but have only just learned that he might be announcing tomorrow and if thats the case then I think he's Irish.

Rumor has it that Theo took one look at Trevor Robinson and said "Holey Moley, please let me be Irish, please Charlie let me be Irish"

How many RB's does anybody think we're taking this year? Do you think charlie will stop it at two or do you think he'll go for another?

Ha that's funny the same question came up in the Touchdown Jesus Forum. IMO we will not take another RB. I would think CW got ahold of the RB's that had genuine interest in us and let them know the door was closing and the first one in gets the schollie. Hench Riddick's imminent commitment

This is how I was really hoping it would turn out- our 1st choice commits, then the #2-5 choices have got a game of chicken if they want in here. Who blinks, who pulls the trigger first? If Riddick does, then Adams, Hilliard and Taylor maybe out in the cold looking for their second choice.

Feels like the Irish and CW/CB are in the drivers seat w this position. Plus, they are in the same boat w the DTs now.

Aint it great to be Irish?

I think that 2 running backs in this class is what the coaches were planning on.

i wonder if our chances of getting the hawaii tandem is hurting now that hilliard may not be as interested. However, we were more of a longshot for either of them anyway.

We are know by having whats already in the fold and Jonas Gray in the '08 class and Wood and Riddick in '09.

Its one of the rare times we have been in the drivers seat for awhile with the recruits. I guess we were sort a like this w TEs last year when we had Kyle sign in March and then had Fauria sign 3-4 weeks later, ending our TE recruiting before the summer was here.

I wouldnt be surprised if Riddick comes in as an "athlete" with his DB skills. I know that Tenuta met with Evans after Riddick committed, as did Ianello did with Taylor.

No.

Riddick has specifically stated that he was recruited by ND as a runningback and that is what he will play in college. Unless we have some issue where someone doesn't get playing time and wants to switch positions he will play as a runningback. This was (part of) why he was interested in the first place.

As for the other meetings I imagine they are letting them know that ND would take them as 'athlete' or something else floating out there but we are full for runningbacks in '09. So great to be back in the drivers seat for at least a few positions (RB, QB, TE)

piyachi's right.

Riddick specifically said he wasn't considering schools that wanted him for anything but RB. CW and crew would absolutely not do that to him (bring him in unless they intended him to play RB).

Interesting stuff on Stepfan Taylor... well what he said the coaches told him.

MAY 12, 2008. PREP STAR
STEPHAN TAYLOR, RB, 5-11, 200, 4.4, MANSFIELD, TEXAS

Stephan has offers from Notre Dame, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Kansas, Stanford, Arizona, Houston, Louisville and Wisconsin.

“Coach Beck (Nebraska) offered me over the phone but not a written letter.” said Taylor, “Coach Beck said they sent it in the mail but I didn’t get it. I haven’t had a chance to get back to them about it.”

“I’m interested in Nebraska. I would like to make it up there this summer.” he said

“Texas A&M Junior Day’s were nice.” said Taylor, “I liked the campus, the coaches are pretty cool. A&M coaches told me I could play early if I’m ready, if not I would have to redshirt. ”

“The coaches (Texas A&M), said I’m a pounder running back.”

“TCU (Junior Day’s) was a nice it’s close to home. It was OK.” said Taylor.

“Notre Dame told me they like me a lot. Notre Dame coaches said they are taking two running backs and it’s who ever commits first.” he said.

“Stanford is a good education. I don’t know much about them. I will probably visit them to see what it is like. Stanford sends me letters every day.” said Taylor

“I will probably visit Florida.” he said, “I see them on TV. I would like to check them out.”

“Minnesota sends running backs in the NFL. I get a lot of mail from them. I’m going to try to make it up there.”

“I don’t have any favorites right now. I would like to visit Stanford, Minnesota and Florida for now.”

They must have told Taylor that Riddick is an "athlete" or something of that nature.

Man, I really didn't think we were looking at anything more than a FB-type guy. Thought Riddick was only coming as a rb. ????

Riddick is coming in as a RB, not an athlete. They are currently looking at fullbacks, but it appears the coaching staff can live without a FB commitment.

I imagine the staff would be upfront with other RB recruits that they would need to come in planning on playing another position if they commited at this point.
