No FLA Gaytors or scUM. Here he is one of the top LBs & w the catholic school tie-in, we at least get a good start.

Another big mover is Wheaton (Md.) Good Counsel linebacker Jelani Jenkins, who cracked the top 10 after junior film evaluation.

Jenkins, a 6-foot, 203-pound linebacker with offers from nearly every major program in the country, was previously No. 79. Jenkins, who also runs track, has tremendous speed, plays downhill and loves to hit. While he plays running back on offense as well, his future is clearly as a game-changing linebacker. Jenkins recently took an unofficial visit to Penn State, and the Nittany Lions, Boston College, Maryland, Virginia and many others are high on his list.

Does anyone know if JJ has been on campus yet? It makes a huge impact on any player but something tells me that if this guy were to visit SB he'd be Irish (maybe its the Catholic background). I want this guy just as much if not more than Te'o! And I don't even wanna think about getting them both cuz i won't be able to fall asleep tonight.

Here is another one i would like to get pretty bad. Think he is amazing, even given his size, he can easily put on 20-30 lbs in college. Great range and amazing at point of attack, when he really hits like a truck. Heard we entered a little bit late for this kid, but hopefully we make up the ground and pull this kid in. 34 offers from major colleges cant be a bad sign.

done. in fact, rivals presently has him listed as the #10 player overall. If ND landed him and Manti Te'o (and assuming the player rankings don't change; they prob will though) they would have landed 3 top-10 players including Cierre Wood.

He is likely to visit this summer.

I don't know about a lock, though. He is being recruited by alot of programs nationally, and i think it's too early to call anyone a front runner.

goldandblue has got the right attitude, this kid is bleeding to become Irish. Let's face it Jelani, you get the opportunity to tackle the best running backs in the country on a daily basis.

• Good Counsel linebacker Jelani Jenkins is another Terps target that basically has his pick of schools. According to this Yahoo! Sports article, Jenkins picked up offers from USC and Ohio State recently. There’s another school Jenkins recently visited that piqued his interest.

“Penn State was good,” he said. “I think eventually they will wind up being one of my top choices, I’m not totally sure yet there’s a long way to go. I got to meet Joe Paterno for the first time. He’s a real humble man. My mom was talking to him about being a legend and he was like, ‘I’m no legend, I’ve just been in the game a long time.’ He was real humble and it was good.”

Tenuta's presence will probably help, since his reputation for running a fast paced, attack defense is well known. But Corwin Brown and the other staff members have established themselves as hard working recruiters. but, as many coaches that are necessary should be involved to land just about any recruit.

What do Jonathan Evans, Eltoro Freeman and Harris Gaston have in common? First, they’re all 2009 high school football prospects. Second, they all play linebacker. Last, they’ve all verbally committed to play for the Auburn Tigers next season in what is shaping up to be a stellar recruiting class for Tommy Tuberville and the gang.

You might think that with all of these linebackers already verbally committed, it might be hard to get another 2009 LB to give the Tigers the nod. But the Tigers, knowing how much a defense needs athletes, aren’t stopping here. In fact, they’ve got one of the best in the country still in their sights.

That's Jelani Jenkins, a 6-foot, 203-pound OLB from Our Lady of Good Counsel in Wheaton, Md. Jenkins, a five-star prospect with 4.45 speed, put up 60 total tackles, four sacks, and an interception to accompany 700 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns last season in high school.

In other words, he’s been productive. Moreover, he’s highly intelligent; his 4.0 grade-point average attests to that.

Thus, it’s no surprise that Rivals currently considers Jenkins the best 2009 outside linebacker prospect in the country. He’s also the 10th-ranked prospect in the nation.

He seems to be the real deal.

Right now, the list of potential suitors for Jenkins’ services is enormous and includes Florida and Tennessee from the SEC. That said, the Auburn defense has been very good over the years, and that has to be alluring to potential prospects. Beyond that, Auburn’s coaches have historically given their guys playing time when they showed they could produce (Antonio Coleman) even when there were other strong performers at their position (Quentin Groves).

So don’t be surprised if Jenkins ends up a Tiger. An Auburn Tiger, that is.

If education and graduation mean anything to him, Auburn is the last place he'd end up.

It appears Jenkins is on a west coast, unofficial tour of campuses right now. Word is he visited UCLA last saturday, and was at USC sometime this week.

Lew, calm down.

I don't know if he presently has a scheduled visit ND. But from everything I read, he always had plans to visit just about every school that has shown some interest. He is hitting the west coast, the south, Ohio, he's already been to PSU and Virginia, and I believe he said he would hit many states in between.

I believe he will also take all 5 official visits after his football season, after he narrows down his list.
