You guys didn't miss much we are shooting 25% to their 48%. Its been very ugly everyone is standing around, and we are getting no ball movement.

For anyone not watching, allow me to tell you what is happening in the game. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, with the exception on Harangody and McAlarney, did not come to play today. Jackson, Hillesland, Ayers, Kurz, etc.are nowhere to be found. The only time you hear their name is when they turn the ball over or foul one of the Cougers.

i for one am heatbroken by this. i really thought we were going to get to the 2nd weekend. this one stings and will take awhile to get over. but i guess we have to look at the big picture. 25-8, tied for second in the big east, and a win in the ncaa tournament. that is a big step in the right direction. and next year we should be better. we only lose one player and if ty nash and carlton scott can perform as good as i hear they are performing in practice, we should take another big step next year.

I agree with you Padomernut that the future is bright for the Irish basketball program. This loss really hurts though. This was embarrassing and I, for one, did not think that Mike Brey did anything right this game. He was not able to design any plays to get Harangody the ball deep inside, nor could he design anything to get open 3's. He also left guys in (like Tory Jackson) who were lost and were turning the ball over and taking bad shots consistently. I'm probably just bitter because I don't like it when my team loses by 20 points in a game that was supposed to be very close. With that said, I want to congratulate this team on a great season and I hope we only get better next year!

i dont think it was all coaching, i think wash st doesnt get enough credit. they are a very good basketball team. but that being said, it didnt seem like to coaching staff made any adjustments. they were set on playing their game even when it was clear that their game wasnt working. it is tough to prepare for a team that plays like wsu does in less than 48 hours, but that still doesnt excuse not even trying to make an adjustment. another glaring stat from this game was that we had 2 points from our bench. that will just not get it done. But hats off to Rob Kurz for a tremendous career, and he has left this team in good hands for next year. This was an embarassing loss and it hurts, but there are brighter days ahead. Personally I cant wait to the Maui Invitational next year. Maybe we will get that matchup with UNC that I know we all wanted this year.

i have to say, i'm not suprised by this loss. all season the team did not show up to play in big games. yes, they beat george mason a few days ago, but GM played terribly, they couldn't make lay-ups; just a bad game all around for GM.

whether it's mental, physical, coaching or otherwise, it doesn't really matter i guess. if i'm being too much of a downer, forgive me. it just gets frustrating that we can't seem to dominate in the big two NCAA sports.

I agree SoCal. I am not suprised by the loss, but I'm really upset with it tonight. They were a better team than they showed tonight.

we are not going to dominate in both sports. that is simply an unrealistic expectation. Football is going to always take a front seat to basketball at Notre Dame, thats just the way it is. That being said, can we have a competitive basketball team, absolutely. And we had that this year. It is just a real empty feeling today. Someone please tell me that the last couple of months was worth it. Tell me that the program moved forward. Tell me to be excited about what we have coming back next year. Deep down i know all of this is true. i know that this was a step forward from last year. Its just hard to realize that right now because the loss was so frustrating, embarassing, heartbreaking, etc.....

We desperately need an assistant coach whose sole purpose is to teach the rudiments of playing defense.
We will no better next year or the year after until we learn that basketball has 2 components...offense which means scoring and defense which means preventing the opponent from scoring. Fundamental, yes, but we have yet to learn how to play defense. All one needs to do is watch NC, Duke, TN and a few others to learn how.

I still think regardless we will have another solid year next year. With all the talent coming back and some additional help from some of this years freshman who didnt play, we will be fine. But i completely agree that we can take things to a whole other level if we can lock down defensively. Imagine how good we will be if we can do that. The scoring is there, if we can play defense we could be a pretty elite team next year. Look at teams in the sweet 16. Wisconsin, Washington State, UNC, UCLA, Louisville. They can all shut you down on the defensive end. You dont think we have more offensive talent than Wisconsin? Im sure we do. I think Brey knows that, now lets see what he decides to do about it.
