I believe that Tenuta has most likely been guaranteed the defensive coordinator position
when Corwin Brown gets offered a head coaching job in the not to distant future. Brown
is being groomed by Weis to move up to a head job.... Weis knows that in two years he'll most likely need a replacement defensive coordinator... In a preemptive strike he hires Tenuta two years in advance of this need... every body wins... Brown moves up and Weis ends up with arguably the top defensive coordinator in the game... Tenuta a career defensive coordinator has the best job for him landing at Notre Dame... I have no proof to back up my prediction but it seems as a very posible outcome.

Is this issue worthy of a poll for our forum members??? I just believe that Brown is a fresher face and potential high profile minority hire for a head coaching job.... Tenuta has been around the block for quite some time and some people question his desire to take on all of the responsibilities of a head coach.... ie media relations, recruiting etc ... these questions have been brought up in this forum before.

I could see that being the case for sure. It wouldn't surprise me. But I don't see Tenuta being a HC.

CB has to do well here, I just don't see him going anywhere for a couple of years......unless the Irish improve dramatically this year.

Tenuta would be a great replacement DC for CB should he leave. Otherwise I would expect Tenuta to stick around maybe 2 years before he moves on. He's very talented and well regarded, I think we are exceptionally lucky to have gotten him.

I also think Tenuta is very lucky to have Notre Dame. Whether it is in football and basketball, Notre Dame is no stepping stone. Anyone coaching at Notre Dame on any level is a lucky man or woman.

While I normally agree...this IS a step back for his career. However, I suspect they will be paying him very well. He could have EASILY ended up being a DC somewhere else, but he chose ND for a reason. I am hoping for very good things to come out of this.

I agree w/ you Stoney! I doubt that CB would get any HC offers after only a couple years as ND's DC, especially the way they looked last year!
