They wee more than a litle shaky. They went 10 for 32 in the second half. They also seemed unable to score consistently except in fast breaks or situations where they shot before the defense got set. Remember, road game or not, Rutgers is a Big East doormat.
I am a ND man. However, this team has got to learn to move the ball effectively on the half court. They're NOT going to be able to rely on transition ball and three's in the Dance. Not for more than one game, anyway. They showed some very disturbing traits last week, traits that remind me of the series of collapses 2-3 years ago. They went 1 for 19 down the stretch against UConn (and a LOT of those shots were off balance and poorly chosen). They went 10 for 32 on the whole second half against Rutgers. The game results tell the story. You an get away with that against a Rutgers. You CAN'T against a Tournament quality team, like UConn. Heck, Duke coldn't get away with a several minute drought against Wake Forest. 3-4 minute dry spells are DEATH in top level NCAA competition. But they keep happening to ND.
