Josh just commited to UNC. He has also transfered to a school in CT because his coach left his old school.

GG...any reason these guys commit so soon?? I can't imagine that a kid would be ready to make a decision like this so soon without investigating all of their options.

It's because of pressure from the coaches, I'm sure. They probably told them they weren't sure that the schollie would still be there for them if they held out.

Wow...thats a pretty crappy way to get a kid to commit. I guess I don't have all the ins and outs figured out with college football recruiting since I only started following it last year, but now I can understand why kids change their minds like they do, when they have grown men throwing ultimatums and pulling shady things such as that.

Thanks for the knowledge John.

Well, john's theory was just that, a theory. UNC is coached by Butch Davis, and he's a great recruiter. It also depends on the kid, what's he's looking for, what's he's heard, etc. It could be from pressure from the coach, but this early? I say no way. They wouldn't risk something like that this early in the game. That stuff usually happens as recruiting is winding down.

Matt Barkley, the #1 prospect, committed last week to USC. It wasn't because USC pressured him, it was because USC was always "the place" for Barkley to go. This could be a similar situation.

In regards to ND, this is a blow to one of our rivals, BC. He's a Massachusetts kid and lots of BC people really wanted to hang onto him and have him stay in state. I'm sure they'll be trying to change his mind, and Jagodzinski seems to be pretty good on the recruiting trail, but this still stings.

Education was really important to this kid. his 2nd choice was Stanford and his high school tuition cost more than a lot of colleges.

He can get a great education at UNC, they plan on throwing the ball around quite a bit, plus it's generally pretty warm down there with plenty of good looking girls, plus from everything I've heard they have a great campus as well.
