Word Jonesman, I would rather have a great wrestler than a great eater anyday. Don't get me wrong Omar is gonna be good, and I would have liked to have him. Martin is more my style though, big, athletic, not overweight, but can put on quality weight, the leverage deal w/ wrestlers is huge as a lineman, and he looks intense. I REALLY hope CW and CB can work some magic w/ this guy.

Agree but at the same time with our system, Omar fit it better. There is not denying that fact. He is big and plays with leverage. Martin is more of a T. Laws type where he can play inside in a 4-3 but most likely will end up as a strongside DE in our system. We need guys on the ends to be able 2 stop the run. He would be a great addition, not matter where he ends up.

lol It wasn't lucky. One of our sophomores dominated him all that game. With us winning.

The kid really is pure muscle though. You look at him compared to Omar, there is a total shape difference.

I really like this guy and I think he could flourish as an end in the 3-4. He will not replace Hunter because we won't need him to because of the presence of Ian Williams and Brandon Newman (along with a few others). I hadn't seen any video of Martin until GG posted that and what really surprised me is how well he moved laterally across the field(from the center of the field to the sideline). I also saw him run down several running backs, which means he has deceptive speed. I was on the fence about this kid until I saw the video and now I am really hoping that we can land him and make this already outstanding class even better. This is the best recruiting class I have ever seen and is giving us so much depth. I am so excited about the future!

Absolutely, I seem to remember a guy named Zorich who had some success with this style...

Mike will be on campus on the 27th and 28th of this month. Weis and Corwin were up to see him and Jonas yesterday. He is going to be at Michigan this weekend and he said no matter what happens this weekend he will not cancel his visit to South Bend.

ND is such a special place. it certainly sold me from the moment i stepped on campus. i was recruited by Michigan as well along with various other baseball programs. i actually visited Michigan the week after i visited ND and i couldn't get home fast enough. Michigan was way too big and simply didn't feel right. i hope Martin truly does give ND a visit b/c i know he'll feel something special. whether or not he commits is another story but he'll def notice ND is a different place than Michigan.

I was sold when I saw the pictures.

My daughter wants to go there, but she wants a field hockey scholie as well. Please tell ND to start a field hockey team!!!!!!!!!

I think they only have a club team in field hockey. That sport hurts my back to watch--everybody is hunched over all the time.

I think we will know a lot about Martin and Page Monday after we start hearing how their visit went this weekend...I agree though Martin is our biggest need right now for depth!

I believe he used the same forumla that Rivals uses for their grades. In other words, their is no system or formula. LOL
