With these two coaches out at their respective schools, what do you all think will come of their recruiting classes?

I wouldn't mind plucking Dann O'Neill out of Michigan's class...

Thoughts?

For instance,

Anthony Dye changes UCLA commitment to the "soft" variety

Under Armour All-American cornerback Anthony Dye told the Los Angeles Times after learning of former head coach Karl Dorrell's firing, "I call my commit very soft. I'm definitely going to keep my options open and have a big decision to make in the next month. There's definitely some uncertainty."

The coaches are recruiting DE Datone Jones (current UCLA soft verbal) and recently gave him an official offer. Also RB Milton Knox Jr. But I don't think he has an offer yet. I don't know about anyone from Michigan.

We are obviously going after two Nebraska recruits, one we landed in Gray and the other awaiting word on possible EE Trevor Robinson.

I believe we're also going after a Texas A&M commit.

I like the sound of Anthony Dye from his ESPN scouting report.

This guy is the very defintion of a defensive football player. Dye is a blend of cover corner, nickel slot and strong safety all wrapped into one, and while he lacks great size, he makes up for it with toughness, savvy, closing speed and an aggressive style of play. He is a violent football player who is all over the field -- a true sideline-to-sideline guy when he is in the slot. At cornerback, he loves to get up in the receiver's face and press. He uses his hands very well, has a strong upper body re-routes and is very disruptive. He can turn and transition from press fairly smoothly on vertical routes. Foot quickness and change-of-direction skills are both solid, and he is at his best on the perimeter when he plays soft and can keep the ball in front of him. He makes a lot of plays coming forward on the ball. He can plant and burst quickly out of the break and while he is aggressive, he does a nice job of playing under control in space. His ball skills are solid, and he is involved in a lot of pass break-ups. He competes for the ball and is tough in traffic. However, Dye may be a better fit on the inside. He is an excellent run-support player. He shows excellent instincts and can step up into the hole and fill aggressively in run support. As a box player, he is not big enough to take on blockers in the hole, but he is feisty and can shed. He is a solid hitter and tackler -- knows how to wrap, finish and take the ball carrier backwards. He has a real nice feel in coverage over the slot. He can cover ground in a variety of roles and appears very comfortable in space. What you love about him is his ability to blitz off the corner. He shows great closing burst and short area quickness to the quarterback. He has football speed in every area and plays bigger and faster than his measurables would indicate. Overall, Dye's stature is not imposing, but his style is. You love the intangibles and versatility he brings to the table.

I would be surprised if we got anyone from those two schools. I think the guys that Weis is hitting hard now will go Irish, or not...but I don't see the net going much wider.

Stoney and I can't listen to music together any more. He always wants Madonna (Material Girl especially) and Michael Jackson (from the red leather jacket and silver glove days). If I try to change it, he gets moody.

Schiano, the Rutgers coach tried to quickly defuse such talk Monday, saying no one has approached him about another job.

Schiano said right now his only focus is his team's preparation for Ball State in the International Bowl.

Schiano spent much of last season dealing with talk about him going to Miami. After meeting with the Hurricanes, he took himself out of the running last December. But the seventh-year coach said it has not come close to that point this year as the Wolverines search for Lloyd Carr's replacement.

"I haven't spoken to anybody about any job and that's where we're going to leave it," he said. "This is a young football team that really has an opportunity to do some great things. I want to put all the focus on them, all the focus on where we're headed."

Quarterback Mike Teel said players aren't worried about the talk.

"This has happened once before and he was straight up with us and told us how he felt, what he wanted, and we're pretty sure none of that has changed," Teel said. "There's no reason for us to concern ourselves with that."

Michigan athletic director Bill Martin has told reporters that he has a large pool of candidates, and it is believed Schiano is among them.

Schiano, the 2006 national coach of the year, leads Rutgers to its to its third straight bowl game the International Bowl vs. Ball State in Toronto on Jan. 5. Rutgers had been to just one bowl game in the program's history prior to Schiano's arrival in 2001.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Schiano signed a four-year extension last winter through 2016 that will pay him $1.7 million annually. He turned down an offer from Miami last December that was reportedly worth $2.2 million a year.
