I'm actually watching Genesis: A History on VH1 Classic.

Those guys were so good!

Now for a question:

Peter Gabriel Genesis or Phil Collins Genesis?

I prefer Peter Gabriel. Phil Collins is good, don't get me wrong, but Genesis became too commercial for my tastes.

I gotta go with Peter Gabriel Genesis. Always been a big fan of his. Nothing against Phil though, I like him too.

Currently listening to a band called Silvertide. They're pretty rockin' in a t-shirt, blue jeans kinda way.

I was jamming some Black Crows earlier. IMO one of the most underrated bands ever.

Kickin' it old school with The Descendants, Dead Kennedys, Alice Cooper, The Misfits, some Royksopp, and some Snoop Dogg. A good mix if you ask me

Old school?? I listened to Young's Harvest (1972, I think) last night...the "Godfather of Grunge." Among his very best work...35 freaking years ago. In the late 1950's, Coltrane recorded Blue Train and Davis put out Kind of Blue. I hear songs played off those two albums almost every day on a jazz radio station...50 years later and their still standard-bearers! The jazz equivalent of Rockne and Leahy. And for the reggae fans, Peter Tosh's Legalize It (mid-70's). Can't go wrong with The Harder They Come.

Listening to 'The Rat Pack Collection,' a live recording of a couple of shows Sammy, Dean and Frank did back in the 60's.

Schwing, baby!

While at work, I listen to a Chicago jazz station streamed over the internet and will hear Sinatra a few times a week and I heard a Sammy Davis, Jr. song just today. Been awhile since I heard Dean Martin. I grew up listening to the Stones, Floyd, Led Zep, etc. but Frank and the guys either had their own variety shows on TV or were guests so I have good memories of their songs.

A habit I've developed is to search a song by title on iTunes and compare the many artists who have covered a song over the years. Often, Frank will have one of the best versions. Another guy that keeps rising to the top is Ray Charles. Ray had his fair share of duds covering other people's songs but when he had the right song, he was good.
