So they won't finish the list until next month, but here is the list so far:

25. Ernie Nevers
24. Reggie Bush
23. Johnnie Rodgers
22. George Gipp
21. Archie Griffin
20. Charlie Trippi
19. Dick Butkus
18. Jim Brown
17. Bronco Nagurski
16. Tom Harmon
15. John Elway
14. Hugh Green
13. Glenn Davis
12. Earl Campbell
11. Charles Woodson
10. Vince Young
9. Roger Staubach
8. Bo Jackson

Now I know I should probably wait until the full list is out, but are they trying to tell me that there really were 7 players better than Bo Jackson, in college? And do they really expect me to believe that Charles Woodson was better than Earl Campbell or Hugh Green? I can't wait to see 1 thru 7.

I wonder about Elway being so high...he was a successful QB in the NFL but I don't remember him doing all the well in college

I don't see how ESPN can compare two players when one played before the other was born. How Vince Young and Roger Staubach can be close to each other is amazing.

This reminds me of that bracket competition thing they had:

There's only two guys that I can think of, off the top of my (rather squarish) head, that I would put in front of Bo Jackson, maybe:

Barry Sanders
Eric Dickerson

I think Danny Weurful will be up there and Tommy Frazier. Hershall Walker will also be top 5. We will have 1 more on the list.

Here's a few guys I think will be in there. Not saying that all of them should be ahead of Bo, but they are noticably absent from the list.

Steve Young
Hershel Walker
Tony Dorsett
OJ Simpson

My guess of the remaining 7 in no particular order:

Tony Dorsett
OJ Simpson
Barry Sanders
Herschel Walker
Red Grange
Jim Thorpe

I guess I could only come up with 6 for sure.

Does anyone else find it interesting that in a list of all-time greats Vince Young is 14 spots ahead of a guy he lost the Heisman to? It's amazing what one amazing game can do to one's legacy. Not that he wasn't great all the time. But had he not made that final drive and won that particular game, he wouldn't be on the list at all...no?
