Air Force Gameday Thread [Sat. Nov, 10 2007]

I am astonished by so many negative comments concerning the ND team. I rooted for Air Force, and hoped they would win. However, Notre Dame does not deserve so much negative feedback.

I live in Southern California. Everywhere I look I see young and old wearing ND shirts or caps. In fact, there are probably just as many ND fans out here as there are USC fans. And I don't see as many UCLA footballs shirts being worn as I do ND.

Heck, when I walk into a department store, I ALWAYS see USC, UCLA, and NOTRE DAME.

My team is AIR FORCE, and always will be. But I do not expect the AF to win another one like this game in my lifetime. I wish we had the quality of players ND is able to recruit, and more importantly--as many winning seasons ND pulls together on a usual basis.

This is just ONE bad year. AIR FORCE has had some bad ones that have upset me, but I NEVER abandon the team--and stick with them to the very end, even when they are losing.

There are a lot of fans on here who will show up and root for ND regardless of how they do. But being critical of your teams' effort and lack of production isn't being negative. When the players fumble the ball, drop passes, miss tackles and other mistakes, would you have us say good job?

Most of the people on here offer criticism or analyze problems for the purpose of being constructive, not negative. Some will post comments like "we suck" and offer no other rational thoughts. But that's not the general attitude of most people on the board.

Can someone who was at the game confirm this? That would really dissapoint me.

In the first half, there wasn't much booing, as I only remember it happening once. I hate to admit it, but at my first ever visit to ND, my wife and I left at halftime.........folks, it was bad.

it was the worst I've ever been around at a ND game, but then again this is only the 2nd time I've seen them lose in person. The other was BC earlier this year. As far as heklers go it wasn't too bad there were a couple of very vocal people with-in ear shot but other than that it was more dsappointment, and confusion on what was happening. A lot of people were leaving early too, the student section never even filled all the way up. As far as large ammounts of booing I only heard it twice. Once at the end of the first half when they decided just to run it and go to the half rather than taking a shot, and at the start of the 4th durign the 1812 oveture. Half the students did the normal thing, and the other half booed and then just stood there through the rest of it not participating. I stay for the whole thing even all the way through the alma matter and after the palyers left. The players did get a pretty decent cheer when they left the field and the studnets did the "We Are ND" chant as they were walking over for the alma matter, and was suprised how loud they were at the time given everything that had happened.

I thought the D, the backfield, and the qb were busting their ass the entire game. Didn't quite believe all the o-line injuries. Started thinking they were faking it for excuse's sake. I'm probably wrong but...

Glad to hear at least most ND students are still cheering surprisingly loud for their brothers.

Maybe the band should not play a "we are a badass" song when the team is doing so bad. Makes it look like the USC cheerleader who cheered when the other team scored. Maybe they should be in tune (pun? yep!) with the game.

I didn't mean just the game. I was talking about the ammont of people that left, and the reaction at the start of the 4th and other things like that.

I don't know what to say to that. This is a down a down year, and has been discussed to nauseam. The LAST thing the University of Notre Dame is about to me is football. Notre Dame, Our Mother.
