I was prepared to do my part. I had plans to fly out for the Duke game but the two guys who were to go with me backed out. Sorry South Bend

While I don't like to see anyone's business have trouble, I will make an exception for South Bend hotels, which typically charge $500-600 per night on football weekends and require 3 nights stays.

Screw them...You live by the sword, you die by teh sword. They've gouged us as fans for all these years, and now they're bitching. Laughable...

Elkhart here I come...

Had a good friend that got took for six N.D. vs. UT tickets in 05 on ebay. Wouldn't recommend it. The ticket agencies are so much higher. Try to go to N.D. and pick them up on game day.

Yeah, Its a 5 hr drive though... Like to make sure I have them before I go.

I've never been to a game where tickets weren't readily available on gameday. It's just a matter of whether or not you're willing to pay a little more.

For me, there are two "Morris Inn"s in South Bend. The actual Morris Inn, and my brother's house.

But I do tend to patronize a restaurant or two, and I have been known to purchase a beer or two in town.

I've always been able to find hotels for between $100-$200 on football weekends, just through Orbitz or Hotels.com. It's still a lot of money, but it isn't crazy. Sure, if you want the downtown Marriott you'll spend $400+, but the Motel 6 or Signature Inn is just fine for us. My wife and I are going to the Navy game, and we found a room I think for $179 or something like that--and we only booked a few weeks ago. It's not chump change, but we can deal with it.

Say, kmoose, does your brother take in strangers?
