As I have previously stated I am in the Air Force. when I was stationed in Japan I was good friends of the Bernard family( still speak to Matt's father Ed weekly). So I speak from the 1st person on this one. Matt has been getting letters on a frequent basis for about 6 months now from ND. Nothing that would get me excited about a possible offer, but last week CW himself called to see where Matt was in his recruiting process and to get a better feel of the family. Ed was extremely pleased with the whole situation.
Here's the deal with Matt he is extremely raw. He didn't start playing until 9th grade, but was a DL starter that year. Then they transfered to Washington where he got into a real weight lifting program and turned his baby fat into muscle. His stats on Rivals are misleading. He is Benching almost 380 with a 5.12 forty time(conducted by WSU). I think he would be a great fit for ND, because he is still improving and geting stronger by the week in about 2 yrs will be a real monster. I'll keep you posted.
Oh by the way he favors WSU over Oregon and UNLV as of right now
