I don't recall ever seeing a program with so many true freshman playing. Which freshman HAVEN'T played?

Haven't seen

Gary Gray (injury)
Harrison Smith - He should be good, no PT so far
Andrew Nuss - On DL?
Taylor Dever - ?
Emeka Nwanko - On DL?
Steve Paskorz- should be on KR
Aaron Nagel (saw him listed for the KR coverage team, not sure...)

Played

Brandon Walker - 2 of 2 on FGs
Golden Tate - KR
Armando Allen -RB and KR
Duval Kamara - Late game WR
Jimmy Clausen - obvious
Robert Hughes - some RB time, TD
Ian Williams - some backup NT time
Kerry Neal - sack and pass rush time
Brian Smith - same PT as neal mostly
Mike Ragone - got some PT vs MSU
Matt Romine - some action so far

Did I get it all?

I would think Harrison Smith would be pretty good on kick coverage or some specials teams like that, might be kind of nice to see him get some playing time there.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Smith play. I think I've seen at least one of the LB's in your first list play, but I can't recall which one.

According to UND, Junkhead is right: none of the guys he lists in that first group have seen the field yet.

Oh, one other interesting bit of info in there: it looks like even in the PSU game, Ragone saw the field while Reuland didn't. Maybe that was just on special teams, but ...

Ragone did play in PSU, he was the guy down there with TT beating the PSU player on the personal foul

Remember what Charlie said that we are going to have a nasty team? That showed it and I dont blame them for doing it.

Well the getting caught part isn't what he promised. Being stupid and being a nasty are two different things.

Nuss to DL

Nuss to DL

Swapping sides | by Pat

We first noticed it while watching the online practice videos earlier this week and now it's been picked up on Irish Insights as well.

The Irish have their first in-season position move.

Freshman Andrew Nuss has moved from the defensive line -- where the Virginian started the season -- to the offensive line.

You can see briefly see Nuss, #76, working with the OL in this practice video. If you recall back to when Nuss committed, he was initially considered an offensive line prospect with the ability to play on the defensive line if needed. He was needed on the D-line, so that's where he started. Now, however, he's back to the offensive line where he will give the Irish a bit more depth. It's still a bit early to tell which position along the line will be his future home, but I assume it will be addressed by Coach Weis soon enough.

In other OL swap news, freshman Taylor Dever is now listed as the backup left tackle behind Sam Young and freshman Matt Romine is now listed as the backup right tackle behind Paul Duncan. It's probably nothing and they were just flipped on the official depth chart when Sam and Paul flipped, but it's something to look for if ND starts subbing in new linemen again. Then again, against Michigan State it was backup left guard Eric Olsen who came in for a series at right tackle rather than either of the freshmen. Musical chairs on the OL is never, ever, a good sign, but at least plenty of guys are getting experience this year.

With that many players getting p.t. We should have an awsome o line in the years to come.

That was brought up on Power Hour the other night, but they mentioned that the coaches are trying to save his year of eligibility so there will be a bigger gap between him a Bruton because they think so highly of Harrison's potential.

the o-line will have the experience they need to move forward, but will they mesh?

WOW. That gets me all tingly inside to think of a big, FAST safety out there scaring the hell out of the Ryan Mallets of the world...on second thought I don't want to see Harrison impaled by a football. I hope that is credible info because that guy is a serious athlete.

Yeah. Real tough spot. Get a top flight education for free in exchange for playing a kid's game.
