What a way to start your tenure at a new school, 73-10 over Murray State. If Murray State was a d-1 school, I wouldn't object (except for the fact throwing touchdowns in the second half is chincy). How do you guys feel, is it a complete lack of class to beat up on D-1AA schools like this? How about D-1 schools, like buffalo and temple, are they fare game for whatever comes their way or do you call it off early?

i understand that it is sometimes beneficial for the "little guys" to play the "big guys" even though they get their butts kicked everytime....by this i mean they get exposure, maybe a tv audience.....a chance to throw a few plugs in for their school, and of course a bunch of money...the obvious downfall here is that they are going to get slaughtered and torched. i too think it's pretty weak that teams don't play some of their backups against a team like murray state to start the second half, use it like a preseason NFL game and get some freshmen some game expereince or something.....i personally think that if a team plays a 1-AA team to open the season they should be given a severe strength of schedule penalty or maybe be cut off from possible BCS games. cuz lets be honest here, if you are a team like michigan or usc (who plays idaho tomorrow --at least they're D 1-A) you're obviously good enough to still get a 'walk thru' game by playin a MAC team or another mid-level 1-A team.....there's no reason to go out and piss pound a 1-AA team...it's just unnecessary

They knew what they are getting into. Murray State admin knew what they were doing when they signed on years ago, so you make your bed sleep in it. These openers are like preseason games and that is how they are treated

but they aren't......i mean if it was like a preseason game then get your 2nd and 3rd teams out there for some quality reps.......i agree that school knew what they were getting into, and i said before, likely for the money and the tv time........

Yes, and some schools, like Appalachian State, will give Michigan all they can handle tomorrow. However, throwing touchdown passes with your Heisman candidate quarterback in the third quarter of a 73-10 win? No class in my view. How many times have we seen Charlie Weis go into shut-it-down mode with 21-28 point leads?

I cant rip on Kragthorpe much. Hopefully, with our new alignment with the Big East, he'll be able to get me tickets to an ND game in the future. My father was a buddy of his while Krag was the QB at Eastern New Mexico and while he was a grad. assistant at West Texas State.

That being said, to borrow a quote from Charlie(the Robot Genius), you never gain anything from embarrassing another team through running up the score. They know theyre totally inferior, you dont need to slam it in their faces. Especially a team that is in a lower division. Now, if they were playing scUM and started destroying them, it'd be different. At least youre proving how much better you are with each score. Against a 1-AA team...what are you really gaining?

This is college football and style points count, and unfortuantly so does wins against 1AA schools.
