I can't say that I disagree with you on your picks. A lot of the teams that we face in the first half of the schedule had significant changes during the off season. For example, GT may have a tough defense but the lost a good percentage of thier offense with Johnson and ball leaving,

Ball leaving is an upgrade. I'm not ready to count out GT yet. They're going to have a tough team. Purdue is returning an extremely potent offense too. I don't think the team should overlook the match-up at Purdue.

Here's how I see it playing out:

Sept 1 Georgia Tech - L
Sept 8 @ Penn St - W
Sept 15 @ Michigan - W
Sept 22 Michigan St - W
Sept 29 @ Purdue - L
Oct 6 @UCLA - W
Oct 13 Boston College - W
Oct 20 USC - L
Nov 3 Navy - W
Nov 10 Air Force - W
Nov 17 Duke - W
Nov 24 @ Stanford - W

9-3

Michigan would be an insane upset!!! I would love to see it, but I sure would not lay money on it.

I dont care what anyone else has to say. Notre Dame IS a top 10 team right now. We have just as much talent as USC or Michigan, except that we have FAR BETTER coaching. Its just that our talent is unproven talent. But that doesnt matter because when the whistle blows on Sept. 1, its balls to the wall baby ! Zibby and Bruton are going to unleash HELL on opposing teams. Kuntz is gonna ROCK somebody's world. Whoever the QB is will pick the defense apart. Our O-Line is going to BULLDOZER over people paving the way for our awesome stable of RB's. Opponents are going to FEAR our special teams. You guys just sit back and watch. This team is going to light the field up not only offensively but also defensively.

 Alright, good optimism, but take the ND goggles off and look at it objectively. ND is definately not a top ten team now.

Everyone is so concerned with all of the 'talent' and 'experience' that we lost from last year. Is everyone blind ? Did everyone actually watch any of those games or check the stats ? Those guys were HORRIBLE. Our defense could not stop anybody. Time after time, our offense could not get ONE measely yard when Weis would go for it on 4th and 1. Im glad those guys are gone and we have new guys to step in. You see, for the first 2 seasons Weis was forced to play the only way that the team he inherited could play. We had ZERO run game. Horrible offensive line. No D-line. No pass coverage.

So, you don't want anyone talking negative about this year's team, but you talk very negatively about last years team. Isn't this the guy that got banned from Irish Eyes? :clown:

You guys should seriously go read the stuff this same guy is saying on GH. Here it's top 10 this year. Over there it's 1-7 to start the year.

Here it's Zibby and Bruton unleashing hell. There it's the DB's continuing to get torched. It's quite funny.

When di GT turn into Oklahoma. They were a one man show last year and Calvin Johnson is gone. We beat them at their place last year and now they are in South Bend. We are going to beat them by 7 or more.

Purdue is terrible.

My expectations for the team are 8 wins, like a poster said a couple pages back. Some of the wins the may not be the prettiest wins and I think they can grind a couple of wins out, going to a winnable bowl game, again agreeing with the poster before me. Overall, I just hope they end their bowl game skid and play respectable. Develop a QB, find a couple proven recievers, and a Defense and people will have to look out in 2008.

Yeah, I'd love that. I'll be satisfied with 7, though, so long as we play well. Our schedule this year is REALLY tough: BC and GT are JUST out of the coaches' top 25 right now, and UCLA, USC, UM, and PSU are all in it.

7 is good too, prove a lot of the naysayers wrong, cough*mark may*mark may* cough and a lot of other people on other boards. But winning a bowl game and developing players for a sucessful 2008 season are my two main things that I hope for, from the Irish this year.
