I heard Shannon in an interview yesterday in which he states that he just discovered the secret to recruiting. It is sitting down with the kids parents and having the parents be more involved with the recruiting process so that when the kid commits, he will be really confident with his choice. CW has been saying that since he first got to South Bend. But that is not really why I titled this thread. Shannon now wants to eliminate the players names in the back of the jersey to continue his ''team-first'' theme...hmmm sound familar??

I know a guy who played at Miami. He said that with Shannon as coach, the inmates will be running the prison. He was disgusted when Shannon was hired.

I disagree I've got a friend on their staff and told me all about Shannon and how he runs things. Guy won't be taking any sh*t and is a disciplinarian (Might've spelled that right.) That guy can relate to recruits big time and I absolutely HATE Miami and they couldn't of hired a more fitting guy for the job.

He is a disciplinarian and a very bright guy. I have some friends that actually play for UM and they said he is hard a** and he works the players very hard. Even though many Irish fans dont want to hear it, Shannon was the perfect coach for that job and so far he is doing an outstand job recruiting. Who would like to see a Miami vs. Notre Dame matchup? I would pay anything for it. Go Irish!

And Shannon just picked up Miami Northwesterns big time receivers commitment today. That whole team will verbal to Miami when it's all said and done.

I also know people very close to the UM program -- Shannon's going to be just what that team needs.

It's tough, with the atmosphere that currently hangs over Miami's program, to change perceptions, but it's possible. Parcells and Belichick have turned around the New England Patriots, who were one of the worst franchises in sports before they came in.

We've been doing that for years!!! Last time I can remember names on jerseys was at the Cotton Bowl when ND lost to Texas A&M. Of course they won the NC the next year. CFB more than anything is about team!!! Not individual!

shannon is trying really hard to get M Forston. I'm hoping we can try to get him out here before he commits to Miami. All of his teammates are basically going to Miami. FYI: M Forston's high school is ranked #1 in the country.

If Shannon can lock down Miami the way Schnellenberger did with the incoming class of '83 and Johnson (no good bastard) continued to do through the '80's that's bad news for the rest of college football. Think about it...if you were limited to recruiting one county in the whole country, Dade County might be the single richest in terms of football talent. The 'Canes haven't kept that stranglehold and have struggled. Should Shannon reestablish a fortress in Dade County, 'da U' will definitely be back quickly.

i totally agree. i think they are going to have a really good year next year and that sucks for a lot teams that need to face them. They have a really good shot at winning the ACC but i think they are still lacking to win a national championship. i just really want to see the irish play them like the good ol' days. go irish!!

Wow. His team seems pretty stacked. To say the least, it would be a major upset for us to land Forston. Go get him Corwin! Go irish!

You definately won't see that anytime soon, unless it's a bowl game. Miami is trash, and all they want to do when they play is fight. That's the reason ND took them off the schedual. They would have to do a complete 180 to have a chance to schedual Notre Dame again in the future.

i think shannon can pull off that 180 but i agree with you that we would only face them in a face bowl game...possibly the national championship in a couple year??

Couldn't have said any better. With exception to Southern California on some years, there's no place that produces great football talent like Dade does. Texas is great, but it's HUGE, and Florida has two other major programs picking from the state. It's scary how good high school football is down there.

The thing about the SEC, in my opinion, is the distribution of talent. it seems like all the amazing talent that comes out of that region doesnt flock to one school. Some leave the south, the ones that dont, are scattered among about 6 teams down there. Nobody is stockpiling up on elite talent.

-----I think it flocked to Florida the last 2 years. But still theres so much talent down there that the LSU, South Carolina and a few others wound up with top 10 recruiting classes last year.
