No room for Bama, but room for Baylor?

I am going to have to agree. A home and home with Bama would have been great. Maybe under pressure White will give the fans what they want and let us play Dumbos DA Army.

so, we are assuming that Bama had that exact same time open? Given how open the future schedule is you never know who will be on it or not... scUM recently dumped us for two years and got backfilled with Oklahoma. No step down there.

My undergrad degree was from Baylor, so I'm looking forward to this game, but would love to see Alabama included in future schedules.

Yeah, I'm getting somewhat irritated with Dr White. It seems we no longer look for the toughest teams to play like we used to (FSU, Miami etc.) Instead it seems we are looking for decent teams, but nobody that would be considered "elite" or even "somewhat elite." Just a few years ago we had three "elite" teams on our schedule; USC, UM, FSU, and a few years later Tenn. Now we have SDSU, Nev, etc. not exactly taking "all-comers" anymore, are we?

A little higher up the Big 12 ladder would have been better, maybe a Kansas St., Colorado, Missouri, Texas Tech or Oklahoma St. Not Baylor. They are a perennial Big 12 doormat. That's a bad game, but not as bad as SDSU.

We are starting to goto places around the country but I still want elite schools. I really hope we never play a 1AA school. That is just embarassing.

I know people love to blame everything on White, but you should keep in mind that he isn't the only guy effecting our schedule. I believe there was some pressure from Weis to make the schedule more "manageable" in the future, which means putting it on par with most other BCS schools, not tougher (like in the past)

Whether or not you like it, a few different people are in on these decisions.

Flea Flicker, are you basing your belief that CW put pressure to bear on KW to make the schedule more manageable, do you have a link? Are you just basing this on gut feeling? I have never seen anything more than conjecture on this.

I don't mind seeing a Baylor on the schedule. The way the BS, I mean BCS system is, they usually reward only the best record. I'm not saying play a fluff schedule...but we can't play all top 25 teams every year.

Whats everybodies take on the strength of schedule aspect of the BCS, didnt they take it out a few years ago? I think they should impliment it, im sick of seeing big teams play fluff schedules and go 11-1 or what not.

I thought they just took out Margin of Victory from the BCS equation??? I could be wrong though... ;)

I'm not saying we need to play a gauntlet type of schedule, I'm just worried that our recent trend of scheduling will devolve into a us just looking for anybody to fill the schedule with. We took a lot of heat from the media for scheduling "weak." Unfortunately, our schedule was not as weak as everyone made it out to be, but it was full of quite a few middle-of-the-road teams that didn't pan out like expected (we're looking at you UNC, Purdue, MSU)

I like the idea of barnstorming, and the fact that we are trying to go all over the country but, for instance, who do you think we will play in the Citrus Bowl 2014, will it be an interesting team like Bama (Bama which is by no means considered elite, talent-wise) or is it going to be USF, or Vandy. Not exactly what Rockne had in mind eighty years ago. If we played a tough schedule in 1988 and won an NC using the option, and had similar success in '93 why can't we do the same now. We can add a third "elite" team and it would dramatically increase everyone's perception of our schedule. We're getting the talent to compete with the LSU's UF's etc. why don't we play them.

I guess next we will have a annual game against the Black College's. If he keep this up he gonna validate pricks like Mark May.

Dude, we never did look for the toughest teams to play...that's some kind of weird myth...

Each year we will have no less than 2 elite teams. USC & UM most years...then USC and OU in the 2 off years.

Weis has definitely spoken about not scheduling stupidly...I am not sure how much input he has. I suspect its little.
