Ripken took a single day off after setting a record for not taking days off. Bonds takes more days off every week than Cal did in years.

Fellas I'm not a Bonds fan but it's hard to ignore these numbers, which apparently don't have this seasons stats computed into them yet. The numbers are fairly similar except for hits to BB and stolen bases. Bonds did win 8 gold gloves to Aaron's three and he has 7 MVP's to Aaron's 1.
Is Bonds a piece of garbage? Sure he is. But these numbers dont lie and like it or not these numbers arn't going anywhere.
Not saying that I do respect Bonds but you still have to go out and hit the ball thats what it comes down to. Are his numbers obscured sure they are, but I just disagreed that Aaron was the more complete player.
He did it because he is a selfish jackass. He realized it could help him get into the spotlight more often. He used to be a 30/30 guy, which is one of the most under appreciated achievments in baseball, but one of the most beneficial to teams. He no longer cared about his team or teammates and decided it would benefit him more to be a spotlight guy. Its a shame, sports have become so much more driven by personal achievment than team achievement.
