The 3 is actually a net increase of 1 from the pre-evaluation 100. They took Darius Fleming off the list, and added Crist & Clelland. Crist was on the pre-eval 250, Clelland went from nowhere to the Rivals 100.

37 of the 100 are verbal commits. Of the 63 uncommitted ND has offers out to the 10 I listed in Post # 4, and 12 others.

The 12 others:

1 Terrelle Pryor
2 Darrell Scott
3 Julio Jones
7 Will Hill
11 Tyron Smith
12 Shayne Hale
14 T.J. Bryant
15 Arthur Brown

From a preliminary glance, it looks like we're in line for a top 10 caliber class by rival's rankings. It'll all change though. Some kids in this group will get hurt, and drop out of it. Some guys are going to blow up on the recruiting scene, the usual.

For comparative purposes the current Scout 100 already has 48 commits. It also has 5 ND recruits in the Top 100.

Kyle Rudolph @ #25
Anthony McDonald @ #43
Darius Fleming @ #49
Dayne Crist @ #66
Sean Cwynar @ #92

That looks like a good lot to me...they should all commit to ND. ;)

Yes, it would be great if they all did it today, and ND could close up shop on the 2008 recruiting season. All 10 of those guys have the Irish in their Top 5 or better, and IMO ND has a really good shot at 6 of them, and should be able to actually haul in 3 or 4 of them.

It's good to see that Crist and Clelland got in there, but leaving Fleming out sort of puzzles me, maybe because he's such a tweener but I don't agree with that one. It's a good list overall and doesn't overrate Bucker as the #1 like Scout did, but some players on there I just don't understand why they are.

Just for clarification, Brown is #1 on Scout, are you talking about Buckner? He is #22 on Scout, where he is over ranked is on ESPN, where he is #3.

On the Rivals Video, they said they were concerned that Fleming doesn't quite have the coverage skills yet in the 3-4 Defense so that's why he's not in the top 100. I fully believe he will be by the end of the year.

Interesting of note, Beal is very highly ranked on Rivals but not so on the other lists so it seems like there's a lot of debate as to where he actually falls.

Also, this is the first list that Sweat did not make.

Filer is in the 30 range on both Scout and Rivals so I really don't know what ESPN is thinking. I have to believe Filer is top 5 LB (behind Brown, Hale, and Bradham). I hope he does end up Irish in the end.

Just one clarification, Sweat has never been highly rated by Rivals. He was in their original 250 to watch, but was dropped out of that before the pre-evaluation lists came out. He has never appeared on any of the Rivals 100 lists, but I would be surprised if he did not make at least the Rivals 250 when that list is published.

Thanks IUB, I was not aware of that. I guess each recruiting service really is different in what they are looking for talent wise.

I don't like the logic they are using with Fleming, his move to OLB in the 3-4 at ND should have nothing to do with what type of prospect he is. They make it sound as if he would've committed elsewhere with a 4-3 system where he would be an WDE that he would be Top 100 prospect.

Couldn't agree with you more. I can see 10-15 guys on that list who don't belong ahead of Fleming or even McDonald if you ask me.

I agree, but it doesn't really matter what Rivals things. It matters what happens on the field ... and I'm confident that CW is a better judge of talent than some flunky at Rivals.

When is rivals going to come out with the 250 list and just all the stars overall?

Supposed to be sometime next week.

After reviewing the 16 recruits who have ND offers and are not on the Rivals 100, here are the guys that IMO have a shot at eventually being on there:
Forst, Goebel, Cyrus Gray, Slaughter, Sweat, Carlton Thomas, Kenneth Page

Of the 10 ND committed recruits who are not on the current Rivals 100 list, IMO there are 4 who could possibly end up on the list at some point:

Cwynar, Fleming, McDonald, and Hafis Williams. Also Poz, but he would have to have an incredible senior season.

The latest on the Rivals 250 is that there will be a preview later today, whatever that means. The full list will not be published until tomorrow.
