Not a chance. It would be bad sportsmanship, and it'd be impossible to keep it a secret anyway unless you never allowed the media to any practices and somehow managed to stop all possible leaks. Not a chance.

Oh, and it does seem like Sharpley's got a real shot based on the recent SB Trib article. Good for him. I for one really believe that it's still 100% wide open between the four of them.
I don't see the bad sportsmanship. And that article in Sports Illustrated was horrible and not worth quoting. Let's Go Dame !!!

Okay, let's agree to disagree on the sportsmanship issue (though I think it would be real bad). But the article was in the Tribune, not in SI.

I'm actually thinking we might have Sharpley and Frazer be the top two, but maybe that's just because I like to think contrary to the majority. But I really would just like anyone besides Clausen to start. If Clausen starts, those guys basically have nothing to live for, and will probably leave sooner rather than later. If someone else starts, all the other quarterback's will know that they have a shot at the job still (cept maybe Sharpley if and underclassmen starts) and will stick around. The more who stick around, the hotter the competition is, and the better our starter will be. He won't be able to take anything for granted because there will be at least two other guys breathing down his neck. I love Clausen, but I'd rather let him marinate at least a year before we throw him on the barbeque. Like I said, I like Frazer and Sharpley's chances of being the top two come July/August when it's announced.

I've been hearing how Clausen is the most advanced so far and they have him starting for the blue team with mostly all the offensive starters this year against the gold Defense which consists of mostly all our starters this year, I say it looks good for him. He's supposed to be The LeBron James of Football (I am the LeBron James on IE) so if he doesn't win the job he just isn't, why don't you want LeBron as our QB?

Let's see him play this weekend, and against college competition, before we annoint him the LeBron James of football.

He's one of the most polished QBs to come out this decade, but LeBron James is LeBron James because he dominated right away. JC hasn't seen the field yet.

From BGS (link):

The quarterbacks were all given equal time to run with the 1st team offense during spring practice and this week is Jimmy Clausen's turn so not too much should be read into the fact that he, along with Demetrius Jones, is listed with the rest of the first team offense on the Blue team. Still, from spring practice gossip it's sounding like he's definitely played himself into the top 2 spots that Weis plans on picking at the end of spring ball.

Cool -- if this is true, then good for him.

Clausen might be the best QB when it comes to skills, but Weis is looking for first is someone that can run the plays and knows the plays. It might take him some more time to get to that level of knowing Weis and his playbook. I think Sharpley has the best shot at getting the job by running the plays and knowing what to look for with the D. Remember he was Quinn's backup last year and has 2 years in the system.
