not going to be the shark or rhema. George West and David Grimes played well at times last year, but I can't say i was overwhelmed with visions of greatness from either of them. I have to think the incoming guys are going to give them a run for the money, and it would not shock me if the rookies started in their place.

Think that Dave Grimes has a leg up on the others. That being said, I would not be shocked if at some point one of the frosh won a starting role; wouldn't bet on it, but wouldn't be shocked.

Can't see 2 of the freshmen starting though.

I don't see Grimes getting supplanted. Maybe he won't be the #1 guy, but I don't think he'll fall any lower than 2. He does too many things well. He runs good routes, can really catch, and for a guy his size, he is a really, really good blocker. but it should be really interesting who else gets in... Hord, West, Jackson, Parris, Gallup and all those freshmen. I'm excited to see... too bad September is a far way off.

i like hord as the # 1 cuz of his speed and play making ability. Then Id like to see a big giy as the #2 like Little or Kamara, #3 Grimes, even though is is probabally out best reciever... i really like this guy as the slot reciever

i know his injury was all the way last summer, but do you think hord will be 100% back with his speed? I know of another guy who played football who ruptured his achilles in the summer and even the next year he could play but he said the one leg was still weaker and his speed wasn't 100%. I'm hoping Hord is completely better though.

does anyone know much about this type of injury or was this other guy's long recovery time just unusual?

I totally agree with you. Grimes will be a good player for us. And one of the freshmen will be the other receiver before the season is over. But the big question is who gonna be throwing the ball?

Injuries to the Achilles heel are one of the hardest injuries to come back from. Especially his injury, which was an entire rupture of the heel. It probably takes about as long as a recovery from an ACL, but that still doesn't mean he will be able to go back to his full self or reach his full potential. Although, most of the recovery depends on the person and how hard they are willing to work. The rehab is painful, but if he worked through it, he should be in a good enough condition to play.

Robbie Paris is my sleeper to be the #1. I've heard he's looked very good in practice, and I often saw him tailing Shark on the sidelines.

R. Paris + R. Jackson = Shark + Stovall

Anyone, anyone?

his reasoning? lol look at his name, or go to DD sometime. He's a HUGE barry gallup fan. I saw Gallup play one game his freshman year in high school, and let me say he is FAST. I can def see him as good third receiver next year, maybe even a starter.

I think DK will start by the end of the year or at least he will play a lot. Don't forget about D.J. Hord. He was going to be the third WR last seaon so I bet he starts.

I don't think it was in stone that he was going to be the third receiver. I'm pretty sure Grimes was in competition with him for that third spot. but i hope hord does do well next year.

Agreed Kamara will get significant PT especially when we're in the Red Zone.

I would imagine Little or Kamara has a legit shot at being a starter based on their physical assets. Since Weis & Little himself seem adamant about playing WR instead of LB, he better be good enuf to start as a frosh, b/c we could damn sure use him on D as he's projected as a top LB.

not one school recruited little at LB

I'm just referring to the fact that he was deemed as being projected as a top LB if the team who earned his commitment placed him there. More than one recruiting analyst has stated this, including tom lemming.

Grimes has quality play time and some really nice catches...he has a leg up in that regard. But let's face it, from here on out, all bets are off. This team is going to see a TON of new faces over the next 2-3 years. It's like a fresh start.

Sam Young proved that Weis will play a true freshman where almost no other has ever started. Young will not be the only one, that's for sure. So much talent, so much hunger...so many bright futures.

I totally agree, it seems that our offensive skilled positions could have a multitude of players starting or contributing. That's why it's so key to have guys like Carlson and Sullivan returning. I don't see us having the usual suspects predominantly on the field all the time like last year(see walker, shark, rhema). It will be more shuffling in and out based upon situations.

Unless a couple of guys go BIG in spring/preseason practice, I think you are right on. Expect this in the backfield, at the WR position, and on the D-line. Think the O-Line will be more of a constant, and that Carlson will get lots of balls thrown at him!!

I was a little concerned about our O line, but with sully coming back and the new guys stepping up like they should be able to, it could be one of our strengths and allow us to run alot more or go deep.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gallup and Jackson starting, while Grimes and Hord sharing time in the slot.

Grimes and West can catch, but they are a little on the small side if we can get them in space they will be fine. For the third guy in the slot I hope the have a big guy to take the hits over the middle.

well, I guess Little isn't going to have a shot at starting for ND anymore. But I'll take the guys we've got.

I guess one shouldn't count eggs before hatching. I agree, we got some good ones, not to mention 3 guys competing to be the one to chuck it to em!
