Here in Southern California we have ESPN radio 710 AM. Now there are tons of ND haters as you can guess. So who do they get an interview with but none other than Bob Davie. They asked him the question about coaching at ND and about how a loss in a bowl game is magnified because it is ND. He said it is fair because ND brings it upon itself. He also said that there should be repercussions for this loss, since this is how he lost the job after the Oregon blowout fiesta bowl loss. Man I wish this guy would go away. Why would anyone hire a failed college football coach for commentary?

Failed football coaches can make great commentators. He obviously knows a lot about college football. Why not let him talk about it?

He does sound like sour grapes when discussing ND, but overall I think he has made huge strides in the booth over the years. Then again, I like Lee Corso too, another failed coach.

Davie was fired that next season. He received an extension after going to the Fiesta Bowl.

Selective memory.

Davie is a tool, I don't like him in the booth doing the games, him and Drunkberger make me sick and he is a pissed off ex-employee of ND.

I'll take him back as Minter's replacement though. He is, I mean, was a damn good defensive coordinator.

Let's also not forget that Davie was let go after 5 years of up and down. Bowl If he did imply that Weis should be out after last night, he obviously forgot that .760 is a better winning percentage than .583, his percentage over five years (and .640 in his first two years), and 19-6 is three games better than the 16-9 he posted his first two years.

His back to back bowls were the Independence Bowl and Gator Bowl. Weis's were Fiesta and Sugar.

His team showed no forward momentum after having his players, his coaches, his system fully in place. Weis has been competitive with upperclassmen from another coach who wasn't known for recruiting prowess.

Facts are stubborn things.

Davie inherited plenty of talent from Holtz but did nothing with it. His recruiting was sub par and his coaching pretty much sucked. All he did was stand there and lick his fingers on the sideline. He should be working at KFC not ABC.

If I remember correctly, Davie had an aggressive defense at A&M against mediocre competition, but totally stunk it up at ND. Then they hire him to replace Holtz. Go figger.

Actually, he was correct. Last time ND was a deserving top 5 team was in 93.

Having been a student under the tail-end of Davie's tenure, I seem to remember a great Defense, (which stood Ty in good stead) and a VERY terrible offense. Wishbone anytime we get inside the 20? Any takers? I agree with marv, great defensive coordinator, but bad Head Coach and annoying anytime he talks about ND in the booth.
