Brady Quinn and the NFL

With the Lions and Raiders locking up the #1 and #2 draft choices last weekend I almost wish that Brady would fall. Those two teams are notorious for wasting talent.

My team wishlist
1. Tampa Bay
2. NY Jets
3. Carolina
4. Minnesota
5. St Louis

Good fit, but no need
1. Green Bay
2. San Francisco
3. Eagles
4. Dallas

Good fit, but draft pick too high
1. Bears
2. Chiefs
3. Seahawks

Poor fit
1. Detriot
2. Raiders
3. Houston
4. Miami

I hope that you are wrong because a system can make or break a QB. If the teams that you mentioned really are a poor fit for BQ, he might not have much of a career because it is likely that he ends up at one of them.

I think Detroit could be a good fit. Mike Martz is a fine OC and Detroit has some talent on offense. And, they have John Kitna. Brady would be an instant upgrade.

I hate saying this as i wouldn't like to boo against him twice a year but I agree Detroit would be a great place for him

Remember, just about all #1 picks start with crappy teams. Carson Palmer wasn't ruined by going to the Bengals. The Colts were horrible prior to Manning's arrival. The key for these bad teams is to build around that #1 guy. 2007 could be a tough year for Quinn, but it could be one that he can build upon.

Agreed. Detroit is the best fit for Brady. Fire Millen, draft Brady.

Yes. There have been several rumors of teams considering trade packages to get top pick for him (Carolina, Green Bay, Chicago.)

None of your preference teams are realistic. Simms just signed a 2 year contract for Tampa. Pennington has at least 2 more years at NY Jets. Carolina needs a big arm, which is precisely Quinn's weakness. Minnesota, maybe, but they seem set on Tavaris Jackson and they have other pressing needs at the RB and secondary positions. St. Louis has pressing needs on defense, and Bulger has at least 2 more years. Chicago would be an excellent fit, but I don't think they need a QB right now, only a guy who can manage a game.

Detroit would end Quinn's career. Mark my words. As a person who's had the unfortuante experience of following the Lions, I can tell you that the organization will find some way to screw him up. And the recievers notwithstanding (the best is Roy Williams), Detroit has a terrible OL (Michigan alum Jeff Backus being the only exception). They can't run the ball, and every QB that's installed will face instanaeous pressure. A QB in Detroit is setup to fail because there are virtually no parts around him. What good are your recievers if your QB is getting sacked after taking only 5 steps? What good is your offense if you don't even give Kevin Jones a chance to run the ball? And most of the recievers are deep threats, so you need a guy with an arm, and Quinn does not fit that profile. I mean, you really get a good feel about how much of a waste these recievers are when Furrey (an undrafted and undersized slot recievers with some power) is your second leading reciever. Also, very few people in Michigan equate Brady Quinn with "hope" or any of that stuff.

I could live with Detroit, but not with Oakland. Tampa Bay would be wonderful, but I don't think it's going to happen.

And I'm pretty sure for a ND fan to boo Brady Quinn, regardless of what NFL team they cheer for, is a capital offense, punishable by death. or at least a mortal sin.

having a strong arm is very overrated, and besides Quinn has a solid arm(according to NFL scouts), certainly stronger than a Pennington, Leinart etc.

Good points but shouldn't Quinn be used to instantaneous pressure w/ plenty of sacks? No QB has taken the beating that Quinn has these last 4 years. Leinart could never handle the hits that Quinn has taken & Leinart doesn't have near the arm of Quinn. Granted the pro defenses he'll be facing are faster & hit harder, but if anyone can withstand it, it's Quinn. The guy is all-day tough.

Of course, if LSU boatraces the Irish this Wednesday, maybe Quinn will fall in the draft which in the long run, based on your correct analysis of the hapless Lions, could help his cause.

Green Bay???? I haven't heard any of those rumors. That would be absolutely OUTSTANDING since I'm a Packers fan and I'm by NO MEANS convinced that Aaron Rodgers is our QB of the future. I say, trade Aaron Rodgers and get Brady. They are a young team on the verge and a young, mobile, strong-armed QB is what they started with back in 1993 with...you got it...Brett Favre. Are they any available links that talk about the GB rumors of them taking Quinn?

People in Michigan should be at the point where they would equate a one-armed blind man with "hope". Let's hope BQ doesn't end up in that shithole of a state. On a positive note, he'd be one of the few people that still has a job and for $1 million he could buy a whole town nevermind a nice house. Here's hoping no one comes out of the stands to fight him on the field. He'll get sued for knocking them out like the Pacer players did to those sissy Piston fans.
