Odds of Jeff S to Bears

He did throw five against the Bengals last year....Its pick your poison with Orton you run the ball 50 times a game and don't let him throw with Grossman its about 50 50 run to pass but he may turn it over 3 or 4 times a game. I think he is afraid of geting hit in the legs and thus throws off his back foot too much also he is too short to see over offensive lineman....they should go out of the shotgun or roll out more often to help his vision. Even still he makes really dumb decisions

I know...neither is a great choice...that's why I'm hoping Greise will have an opportunity to get us to the Superbowl.

Odds of Jeff S to Bears

I think Grossman is just going through some growing pains. We must remember this is his first full season of starting. Injuries have really stunted his growth but he does have crazy potential. We can't forget that he was mentiones as a MVP early in the season.

first of all Jeff is a pitcher in the cubs farm system, not for the cubs yet.....none of their minor leauge teams play in chicago (if you recall he played A ball in idaho this summer); so that proximity isnt relavent at all....he is a pitcher so hes not going to be in the majors for years assuming he makes it.......second of all, for all you laughing at the bears draft picks up there um.......uh........tommie harris, brian urlacher, mike brown, alex brown, briggs, vasher, tillman just to name some............85% of the best defense in the nfl was drafted by them

We have already discussed and clearly pointed out the Bears know how to put together a defense. Bears' offense is the ugly redheaded step-child that can't seem to put it together so mercifully there is a strong defense and amazing special teams that keep the Bears winning.

you forgot to mention Rashon "Fumble-itis" Salaam and Cade McNown (www.tradecade.com anyone?), who also contributed to making other teams some of the best defenses in the NFL.

Jeff and his dad are insisting that he's going to play both sports. I think he should just play football and then go to baseball later in his career. He needs to be on the same team as Brady.

gski:

I pointed out that they drafted well defensively however they have been terrible at drafting offense.....also it is not unheard of for a pitcher to get promoted to the majors early on in his career especially if he has played college ball.....last year the cubs used nearly 7 or 8 rookies in their starting rotation throughout last year a majority of them coming from double A (West Tenn) or Single A (Daytona) ,O'malley, Mateo, Guzman, Marmol, Marshall,Ryu,Hill are some off the top of my head who pitched in the rotation last year for the cubs as rookies it is not unrealistic that Jeff could be called up fairly soon if he chooses to continue with baseball. I also said it would be highly unlikely but it was my dream anyway

they looked good although I wasn't too happy with the D hopefully the loss of Harris will not hurt too badly

Yeah I think Scott can fill in for him nicely though a drop off but not as much as it would be with other teams

Who needs Jeff Samardzija on the Bears?

They have the Windy City Flyer, aka Mr. Monday Night, aka Devin Hester.

What they'll need are linebackers and offensive linemen.

The safeties looked like they were running around blindly last night... Peanut has really stepped up his game though this year which is great to see...

For all the Grossman haters, I hope you so called fans watched the game last night. He looked bad to form and seems to be more under control. So take your Mcnown shit and shove it. If you don't support a young qb he has no shot. Bears fans are loyal like ND fans, give the guy a shot and you will see. Benson had a pretty good game too. So the guy held out, who cares, he runs like a horse and continues to improve. For all you bandwagon jumpers from the last couple years, "Get the hell off", real fans aka bears fans don't need you. Go root for the Colts or something. They're all bandwagon jumpers. You should hear them this week compared to a couple weeks ago. They went from the best team ever to we're done, Colts suck, fire dungy. That is no way to be a fan. If you are a real bear fan you know that.

Indy, it was his best game in a month. Is he going back to Canton again?

It really works when you throw the ball to YOUR team and not the other guys.

And you don't have to throw it deep every single time you throw, either.

Fact is, he's capable of being either very bad or very good. I blame some of his misfortunes recently on Ron Turner just as much as Grossman himself. Both were in sync last night.

Benson should be starting. Thomas Jones is so ordinary it's sad.

Turner has done a good job of turning around the offense but i think he got a little bit ahead of himself due to the early success grossman was having this year. Once he found out he was still wavering a bit under pressure it seemed like he was unwilling to take a step back and kept adding to the aggressive nature of his offensive style. I think that is what is more responsible for the breakdown Grossman had.

The best example is that final drive against NE. They had enough time for a longer drive but the first play his 3 wrs run deep routes. Couple that with Davis running a very flat post route and you're in trouble.

I think if you watch Grossman play and think back to early in Favre's career (can i analyze him when i was like 6 or 7?) they play very similarly.

My question is, where do the rest of you put the blame for the 1st drive pass to Berrian and the second drive pass to Bradley. I can't tell if I'm trying to give too much credit to Grossman. I feel the ball to Berrian was a little harder than necessary but he should have had it and the ball to Bradley was a result of miscommunication at the line, it seemed like Rex checked the route because of the dep safety.

I think it says a lot that Griese was given 50% of the snaps in practice....it appeared to help motivate him yesterday......hopefully he will continue to take what the D gives him and not try long ball all the time that is what frustrates me about him more than anything

Oh please! It's not like the "Grossman Haters" came out overnight. He started the season strong and has gotten consistantly WORSE. Last night was a big game for him and he was able to find some consistancy. THANK GOD. Part of my reason for not liking him is he's a Gator...I want ND players to populate the Bears. And it's my right as a lifelong Bears fan to be pissed that the QB is not as good as the Defense.

Yeah - I agree. It would be awesome, if they could get drafted to the same team.

slim chance, he'll go 10-15 and Chicago wont pick until the late 20s or even 30's

Actually, he could end up falling into the late first round as far as the latest scouting reports go.

Calvin Johnson and Dwayne Jarrett will get taken before him. Safe to assume both leave early?

Right? Brady to Jeff...I just want them both on the Bears. I'm being very selfish--but it's my football fantasy and that's how I want it to happen. Now...if Brady could be naked and yet unharmed while playing for the Bears...even better. :eek:grin:

i agree. i would take CJ and DJ over Shark if I were an NFL team.

I was looking at Stovall's stats... one catch for 11 yards. I know he is a rookie, but I hope he isn't tagged as a system receiver
