I'm with you here. The true test of a coach's ability to get a program on track is being able to create class bridges in key areas that dont allow for large dropoffs in overall team performance. This only occurs with talent, depth, and effective displacement across classes.
If Hiben had stayed with the team, then perhaps he could have been the next guy, the soon to be upperclassman that could have provided leadership while giving the youngsters someone to challenge for playing time.
