With all the talk of who's coming back for a 5th yr. starting to heat up I really hope Zibby decides to leave. I mean God Bless the kid, he has the heart of a lion but he is just one of many players killing our defense. Obviously it's not all his fault but there aren't many other safetys in the country without an interception on the entire season. And the excuse of "well he was hurt most of the year" is nonsense. Even before he got hurt he wasn't nearly the same player as last year. Next year is time to move on with Herring and Bruton. Let these guys develop so there seasoned vets when we are competing for a National Title in 08'.

Well, he was playing even closer to the line this year to compensate for the lack of linebackers. ND spent an awful lot of time in the nickel playing three deep and none of those three were Zwbikowski. Asking a safety to play up all the time and try to help out the horribly burnt corners will never make a player look good, but Minter obviously felt it was the best way to use him. I think he should go pro as he will be a 2nd/3rd round pick but I would also love to see him back to his best - playing deep - in an ND uniform.

Any particular reason why this couldn't be posted in the Zibby declared thread?

If he had come out last year I would have said 2nd or 3rd rd. at the lastest. But if he comes out this year I find it hard to believe he'll do any better than 4th or 5th rd. That is one of the reasons I feel he will come back in the end.

Maybe he can come back and play linebacker? I agree that this season has hurt his draft status ... a lot.

The fact that he could play both safety positions in the NFL will help his draft status. Mid to late second is a real possibility. NFL scouts understand that he was playing close to the line of scrimmage and thus often times out of position on deep passes.

Definately. I don't think his draft status is very hurt at all. His size, speed, and ability with the ball easily make his stand out, despite the lack of interceptions. A guy who hits like he does, has speed like he does, and the ability to return punts will make him valuable to lots of teams. I'd say probably in the second round, maybe to the third, but definately not any lower than that.
