Based on WHAT? You just keep repeating that ND would beat them. Like it's so obvious, a given, that ND is better than Boise State.
Well then, why is ND ranked below BSU in all the polls? Why did ND lose its two games against top 25 teams in blowouts, while BSU blew out its only top 25 opponent?

Because we have more NFL prospects? I see nothing, looking at our respective resumes, to indicate that we would beat Boise State.

their schedule sux period! id like to see what the record was if they played ND's schedule this year. they would lose 4 games min.
you can use your little ranking method all you want. but PSU and GT would both be very hard games for boise to win.

I don't think you can compare two losses (albeit by ugly scores) for ND to the 3rd and 8th ranked teams, versus one win for BSU against the 24th ranked team. ND also 4 beat teams in the also receiving votes category, whereas BSU only beat one other team in 'other..' category.
Using the current rankings is very lame....you talk about ND being blown out by Michigan, but ND was #2 at the time. I guess that means the 'blowout loss' was a fluke; or maybe the rankings are somewhat 'suspect' because teams DON'T play each other, and have very little common opponents.
IDK if ND would be BSU, but I think it is fair to question BSU's caliber as they only played OrSU and maybe Hawaii. You want to knock ND for losing to SC and Michigan, that's fair; but ND did beat several other 'decent' teams going to bowl games (PSU/Navy/GT/UCLA). It will be interersting how they do in their bowl game against OU.

Give Petrino a break he coaches for UL.....many consider it one step up from a high school, or wait did I mix that up many consider that many of UL's opponents are high school teams....I don't remember.

Saying it's fair to question how good BSU is, is not the same as saying ND (as unproven as Boise) would wipe the floor with them, or beat them "9 out of 10 times." That's talking out of your ass.
What would happen if Boise played SC and Michigan? I don't know. I think they'd lose; I also think they'd compete.

This whole rat-hole got started with the Boise would beat ND comment. Prior to that, others had commented that Petrino singling out ND for his comments, was missing some BCS conference winners and an unproven BSU.
Actually, the above is the first mention of Boise State- and it's in a derogatory fashion, ie, "winning your conference is meaningless- even lowly Boise State did it."
Well, "lowly" Boise State is ranked above us. Has more wins against the top 25 than we do. Has no losses. Has not been blown out, twice, against the only two good teams it's faced, as we have.
To say they'd beat us is reasonable. To say we'd beat them is not as reasonable, though not necessarily unreasonable. To say we'd beat them 9 out of 10 times at home, and 2 out of 3 times on the road, is highly unreasonable. To say they'd need 5 turnovers to beat us is highly unreasonable.
I think we're clear now.

Boise State has 1 win over the top25. We have 1 win. Their schedule blows, period. They would get killed in a real conference.
Yeah, we're clear, they don't belong...and being conference champ means little. Ask Purdue in 2000.

I see from all the newbies today quoting Clotho and replying to him that many of you are getting your first taste of this guy. Let me give you all some advice. Whenever he posts, I don't see it. Instead, I see this:

Here's how it is: ND is ranked below, several spots below, Boise State in the major polls. Despite having a very weak resume, this Boise State team has a better resume than Notre Dame. Saying that Boise State is better than ND this year is therefore a logical thing to say, and has no bearing on whether or not one is a "true" ND fan.
Because believe me, I have been watching all year. I watched when we couldn't contain Georgia Tech's defense. I watched when Penn State was a few dropped passes and Morelli mistakes away from being right there with us. I watched when Michigan came to South Bend and ate our lunch. I watched when a no-name Purdue wideout, and a stud Purdue defensive end, had career days against us. I watched when Stanford, lowly Stanford, stuck around so long we impressed no one. I watched when Air Force held the football for an entire quarter. I watched when North Carolina, perhaps the worst BCS league team, gave our defense fits. I watched Navy gash us early in the ballgame. I watched Army outplay us for the first quarter of our homecoming game. I watched USC...
You get the idea. I am familiar with this year's Irish squad. Though 10-2, they have not distinguished themselves. They have not been bad, but neither have they ever been as good as their ranking would indicate. I am hopeful that with the recruits coming in, they will be better in the next few years. But they're not better right now. And it's because I'm an Irish fan, and a good one, that I am honest with myself and others about just where the team is.
We are not as good as Boise State.

I don't post very much but here goes. Who really gives a rip if we could or could not beat suck ass Boise State. In order to find out they would have to play a game. News flash to all the uninformed. We are not playing them. We are playing LSU. So who really cares about what they can do? I care about what we need to do to LSU. We lost to two top ranked teams. Boise played exactly zero top ranked teams. So bla bla bla. Who cares? Like I said, we don't play them so to say who would win is really pointless because it does not matter. And why even defend a team that you are not a fan of with such hostility? That makes even less sense than spouting strength of schedule numbers that don't mean a hill of beans anyway. YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME.......

He loves Notre Dame very much, but is the kind of fan that would rather bash the team. You must criticize the team if you really love them. We all know fans like this. He is necessary though to conflict with people like me, a stupidly blind homer.

clotho is an ass bag. Why are we talking about Boise St? There were great when Hawkins was there, and now he can't do jack shit at colorado. He gets outcoached in every game. When hawkins was at bull shit u he had johnson and zabranski who seems like he has been playing for 10 years. Boise plays no one, and if you want to go by your stupid logic of boise beat oregon st and oregon st beat usc so be it. But here is one for ya. Kansas St. beat Texas, but KSU lost to Baylor,but Texas beat Baylor, but Baylorlost to Army. Your logic is illogical

You cite an informal poll taken by members of the site, when saying what a bad poster I am- well guess what, in a FORMAL poll taken by members of the media and coaching fraternity, not only is ND not far better than Boise, we are a few spots worse. How you like them apples?

Again- being a homer is fine, but keep it off the messageboard. I am no more negative about ND than most other posters (no more negative than Jigga or Scooper, honestly), it's just that I respond more readily to stupid homer posts. A bunch of people saying we're "far and away" better than a team ranked ahead of us constitutes homerism. And it's embarrassing.

Saying ND got embarrassed by Ohio St. last year is an embarrassment. Was tOSU a better team? Yes. Did they outplay ND? Yes. Did they almost put the wood to ND? Yes, but they didn't! Down 7 with 5+ to go is not an embarrassment. ND fought and fought and only a clock killing drive that busted out for a TD run increased the defeat and ended the game. Losing 41-9 to Oregon St. was an embarrassment, last year's Fiesta Bowl was a step in the right direction. Like the 9-3 record, ND's performance wasn't enough. Charlie has the team headed in the right direction. The BCS's sole purpose is, currently, to get the #1 and #2 teams to play each other for the title. As bad as it can (and has) turn out, it's the system in place. Now, after the title game is set, the bowls "have" to take the conference champs and any auto-qualifiers. When an at large is at stake, the bowls are going to go for the green because it's a friggin business, and the Notre Dame team and fans are one hell of an asset to sell.

We didn't belong on the same field with them. After we tricked them on the first drive with some of Darius's runs, they blew us off the field.

BTW, there was at least one member of the media who voted Boise St #2, so that means they are better than Florida & Michigan, right? And then, of course, most coaches readily admit they don't watch many games but they vote each week. Urban Meyer has watched tOSU play once this year, yet stands by the opinion they are clearly the #1 ranked team. And Auburn was ranked behind us on Saturday, but a Florida win over Arkansas now makes them better than ND? If you're relying on the rankings to determine who is a better team than who, then I guess you're the one posting stupid, fake-o objective analyst drivel.
If by "apples" you mean that you suck as a poster and the rankings are garbage, then "I like those apples." The fact you still post on a board where you are clearly not respected, desperately trying to win the approval of "stupid homers" is embarrassing.
