Haha.... what???

Were you so adamant when they did the same thing in "Team America"? Or what about the billion movies that depicted killing Hussain during that war?

Give me a break. He didn't even say or do anything offensive.

Finally... you really don't think that there are movies depicting the assassination of a US president? How about in '06, the British acclaim "Death of a President" that depicted a hypothetical assassination of George W Bush? Where was your outrage then?

I honestly have never heard of that movie. But I will look in to it.

I don't think Buster is tired of military members, he is tired of politicians anointing them freedom fighter because he doesn't feel that the Iraq war was for freedom. Nothing malice against servicemembers and what they are doing, just his perspective on why they were doing it. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I haven't seen the movie yet but this crap from Net Gingrich and Sara Palin makes my blood boil:

I'm pretty sick of the nonstop hero-anointing with our military and the claims that without them doing what they're doing we'd certainly be less safe or free. Politicians fondling the balls of their base so they can sell more books is having the effect of preventing real discussion about whether he and thousands like him died in vain or not.

Yeah, well fuck you.

One could say the same thing about the Hollywood types who make comments all the time condemning actions when they have no real experience to base it upon. It's a two way street.

In my opinion, Chris Kyle was a sick man who enjoyed killing and fabricated many ridiculous stories in his autobiography, and there should not be a movie praising him. The movie should have been focused on PTSD of veterans and not him killing Iraqis.

Did you even read the book? What stories did he fabricate in it?

So the movie, that was based on his autobiography, which only came to fruition because of him being the most deadly sniper in American history, shouldn't have been about him killing Iraqi's? The movie actually was more detailed in depicting the PTS, or combat stress side of the story imo. In order to make a movie about "The Legend", you almost have to throw in some of his combat story as well, which just happens to be him killing Iraqis.

There is the story about Jesse Ventura, where he lost a libel case. He said he sniped people after Hurricane Katrina from the top of the Superdome, which did not happen. His story about killing two people trying to carjack him is probably completely false with no evidence it actually happened. He also said we found WMDs from France and Germany in Iraq, which did not happen. That would be publicized.

I'm pretty sure his actions in the war are officially documented. Eastwood would check as much as possible to verify everything before taking the mans word as gospel.

To answer your question succinctly and direct to your comment, yes... yes you did. He wrote:

This was in reference to the comments by Newt and Palin. He was referring to the constant knee jerk response to any discussion about war as "they are fighting for your freedom!!!" You then quoted that comment and wrote:

Which infers that he is sick of movies depicting servicemen as heroes. Which he never, not once, referred to himself. That's what I am talking about. You read other poster's thoughts and immediately try to find a way to make it a right wing talking point. Having discussions with you that have any resemblance of dialogue is literally impossible. This is because you don't actually have any thoughts of your own on these topics, just talking points that you try to mold others opinions either for or against. Then use the same worn out platforms. It's exhausting.

Bold 1: Then Buster should clarify himself. Based on the thread topic and his first sentence, it sounded like he was sick of these movies, then he went to Newt and Palin.

Bold 2: I've had useful and in depth conversations with several posters on here, as much as we may disagree (hat tip GoIrish41). In every conversation I have my own opinions supported by facts.

Exhausting? Haha. That's a you problem. No one forces you to read what I write or even respond.

Guess what, none of what you just said was ever mentioned in the book. All of that is from the media/news. Maybe you should educate yourself before speaking on topics.

You should be ashamed of yourself for calling a solider "sick". Fuck right off man.

I never mentioned it was from the book, but the Ventura part was definitely in the book. That's why Ventura won the libel case.

Some soldiers are sick. Some are fine. Some are Christian. Some are Muslim. Some are atheists. Some are bad. Some are good.

I also have a problem with what Kyle said about Iraqis in the book. One, he said “I don’t shoot people with Korans. I’d like to, but I don’t.” Second, saying he didn't give "a flying fuck" about Iraqis shows how he saw the world black and white, which it is not. He had a very simplistic view on it, and I find it disturbing when someone who had so much power felt like that.

Where is the banned user thread? Opinions are great, blatant disrespect of dead servicemen is absolutely ridiculous.

wasn't in the military so i don't know...but as a sniper...is he not given orders on a specific mission on who to target??? im sure if i was a soldier and saw Iraqis killing my friends the anguish/hurt/sadness/hate would fuel me to be a tad racist towards them and view them more as just ENEMIES ior targets instead of people because the ones he was seeing i would assume for the most part are looking to kill him and the rest of the USA soldiers...very easy to judge when not in their place...can't imagine which is why i went to college instead of the military because my brain couldn't handle it

These are my opinions. Nothing I have said that I stated as a fact has been untrue. Kyle (or his family, I think) lost a libel case because of a lie. There are other places where lied. I am not disrespecting "dead servicemen." I am saying that Chris Kyle did a lot wrong in his life.

That's cute. I'm sure the Kyle family and all the other military families would appreciate your disgust with the "hero anointing". Movies like this one are the very least we can do to honor those we've lost who were doing what they were called to do.

Having a discussion about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is fair on any day, but tying that in with being "sick" of these movies is pure garbage. Your comment speaks for itself.

Learn to read.

BTW...Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin aren't elected officials anymore

And yet when it mattered Newt Gingrich was pretty vocal:

2001: "If we don't use this as the moment to replace Saddam after we replace the Taliban, we are setting the stage for disaster."

2002: "We should not wait until Saddam has the full capacity to create terror around the planet and is able to blackmail with nuclear weapons. Waiting is not an option... The only issue is whether the risks are greater now or whether the risks will be greater later. We learned with Adolf Hitler that moving early would have been less expensive and less dangerous and would have saved millions of lives."

Tell me, how much appreciation should the Kyle family and all the other military families have for comments like that?

The biggest tragedy of all is all of the young men, who had the power to do so much good in the world, who died or came back with crippling PTSD due to a war that wasted our money and was based on lies. The tragedy is that Kyle had to be in Iraq at all.

If this is pro-war propaganda, then so is every movie about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Napoleon, Ulysses S. Grant, etc.

People will look for any excuse to shit on America and frankly, I'm getting tired of it.

Yep. This x100.

"Chris Kyle was a sick man" is disrespect.

You're not alone, millions of ungrateful people live in this country and have no concept of the sacrifices these men make for them.

What is pro war bias? I know none of the people whom I served with enjoyed going to war, or enjoyed people trying to kill them, or enjoyed being placed in a position where they had to make the decision to take actions to end somebodys life. America's military is not pro war, just as fireman are not pro burning down buildings. A percentage of people in this country answer a calling to serve their community and country. Hopefully we elect politicians who honor their sacrifice by making responsible decisions.

Many hero-worship football players. I see nothing wrong in honoring those who volunteer to serve this country and do the best they can under extremely difficult circumstances while making split second life threatening decisions.

I guess then I am disrespecting one man. Not multiple servicemen. I'm not going to judge a literally army of men as a whole, based on the good or the bad of one person.

Just another typical ungrateful American dud. Take a number.
