Just an example. I still believe in Weis and the team and have full faith that we will continue to improve over the next few years. You retards who want everyone fired are the same assholes who are ruining this site. Yes I thought we would go 13-0 12-1 I beleive was my prediction, and yes I was a little hyped up when I made that pick. This team is exactly where it should be and will improve in time. The athletes are coming. Lets not turn this into the fire everyone site. This is a hell of a site and deserves better threads than some that are started at this moment. We are not any of the other sites here fellas, we are smarter and don't need to dog on our own team. I used to come here every day to get the best ND knowlege around. I still visit all the time, but some of the shit that is posted now is out of control. Constructive criticism is ok. Like our defense is too slow. Yes it is but in time it will change, considering we have two stud cb on the bench as freshman(walls, mcneil), another coming(gray), a solid mlb(toryn smith), speed at de, and wr, and rb, the best qb in the country coming all in one and a half recruiting classes. We have to win this game. It will help with pulling some of the recruits we desperately need on defense and give us good momentum going into next season for the first time in a while.

I think ND football is in great shape. But sometimes you need a little tweaking to take the next step. For example, English has had a huge impact on Michigan.

I think ND football is in great shape. But sometimes you need a little tweaking to take the next step. For example, English has had a huge impact on Michigan.

No doubt you always have to tweak. My comment was more the euphoria/dispair roller coaster we see on this forum. In two years, Weis has gone 19-5, the best two-year stretch since '92-3.

Along with tweaking, we need a little bit of patience on the part of Irish Nation. We didn't have it with Willingham because there was no forward momentum after his first year; rather, things went downhill. With Weis, we aren't in that position at this point.

We all know that Charlie will be taking a far more active role in dealing with defense, especially secondary play, this off-season. If we know it's a problem, you have to believe he does. We have to accept that next year will be tough with the sparse senior class and the replacement of most of the offense and defense. It will be 2008-9 before Weis' recruiting has borne fruit, assuming that we can get the speed and coverage capability on defense we need.

I also wonder whether there will be a fall-off at USC at some point. When Holtz was at ND, early on the "get tough" mentality bore immediate fruit, but after a while wore thin. At some point, I believe, that will happen with Carroll's "player friendly" style.

Remember, we OWNED USC through Faust, Holtz and Davie. This too shall pass.

Svo made a good point that in 1993 when we had all those stud defensive players who a ton of them went pro by the way; that ND was still terrible on defense, I looked it up and in 1993 Notre Dame defense finished 96th out of 117 teams. And guess who was the defensive fuck head?? Thats right. Good old peckerHead himself Rick Minter. What makes you think things are going to change? last year they ended up 108th in pass defense and guess who was defensive coordinator? Things arent going to change people... they're just going to stay poor until that shithead is out of south bend.

We were starting the same guys (pretty much) in 2003 and 2004. We were what...11-12 during those seasons?

Weis shows up, we are suddenly 19-5 in 2 years, despite the fact that we should be 20-4, and USC cheats...but hey thats alright. Imagine once we get a true 4-5 star recruit team? This one is just barely on the right side of 3 stars...so just think about that.

Winning a bowl game, especially a BCS bowl game, would be a huge statement for Weis and his staff because that has been the one thing that was not accomplished during Davieham and combined with the fact that it would be Weis' first "big" victory by some folks' standards.

Assuming ND plays in the Sugar Bowl I'm either really happy about how they match up against their likely opponent (Arkansas), or really unhappy (Florida). Against Florida's receiving core and overall team speed, I see very little chance for a W. Arkansas on the other hand relys almost entirely on the run, and lacks speed in their receiving core. I think it would be a close game, but more than likely a win.

For some reason, I would feel good about our chances against Florida. They certainly have a lot of speed, but they don't seem to take advantage of it. Their offense has looked anemic at times this year. I think that, like Georgia Tech, they have yet to figure out how to best use their weapons on offense. I think it would be a very competitive game and that ND would have a pretty good shot. On the other hand, it seems like Arkansas has been able to get a lot out of less talent.

Ultimately, I think that the SEC championship game will tell us a lot about both teams.

I think Florida is a difficult match up for us. A lot of misdirection and a lot of team speed for Florida. You better stay disciplined and you better tackle well when playing them. That does not seem to be our strength this year.

Tell you what, if Weis ever goes 6-5 in the regular season and says, "Last I checked this is a winning season" you will hear some negativity towards him. Or if we get blown out three years in row by USC by thirty or more I'll lose my patience. Or is we get blown out at home by unranked teams I'll get upset. How about that?
