You'd be surprised about McCoy. I was too when my friend pointed it out to me. He's put up HUGE numbers this year. His team has beaten Nebraska (8-3) and Oklahoma (9-2), as well as Texas Tech (7-4). He had his worst game against Ohio State (1TD, 1INT, 60%, 154YDS). Not nearly as bad as Troy Smith's terrible games against Illinois (0TD, 1INT, 56%, 115YDS) and Penn State (1TD, 2INT, 54%, 115YDS). And he's a freshman.Give me a break.....Colt McCoy? You can't be serious. Colt hasn't beaten anyone good all year.....I'm not sure Oklahoma counts, but it's his best win.
He's had 1 maybe 2 bad games.....the only truley bad game was Illinois. Smith excelled against a team that Quinn severely struggled against.
Penn State isn't a "maybe" bad game, by the way. Smith played pretty terribly, and his only "shining moment" was the bomb to Ginn, which was more Ginn's speed than anything else. OSU escaped that game because Morelli isn't good, not because of anything Troy Smith did.
Oh... Brady Quinn's worst game? Against Michigan. And his stats? 3TD, 3INT, 50%, 234YDS. Only one of those INTs was Quinn's fault. Its not struggling in the manner Smith did against Illinois and Penn State. I'd say that's a much better "worst game" than either of Troy Smith's. The only other "bad game" Quinn's had? MSU. 5TD, 1INT, 55.6%, 319YDS. Even when Quinn isn't at his 65.1% clip, he's a difference maker. On Smith's off days, he just curled up.
The thing is, Smith can get away with having games worse than other Heisman contenders because his team is the best in the nation. He takes off days and the rest of his team pulls through. And the media sees past that because he played well against Texas and Michigan.
(Sidenote on McCoy: Did anyone else know he's 20 years old? Last time we hear whining about Clausen being OMG 18.)
