So tired of people saying we have a weak schedule

I am so sick and tired of people saying that ND has a weak schedule compared to other teams in the country. If you look at the tOSU schedule, the only good teams they play are michigan (who we play as well) and texas(we play USC so I believe that makes ours harder). Other than that, we play a couple tougher games than either michigan or ohio state. Is it just me, or does this get soo annoying. I can't go on any other forum just to read about general info, because all people do is bitch about ND's schedule.

Maybe I am just frustrated because Michigan lost today (man do I hate tOSU).

Well thanks guys for letting me vent, I just get so pissed about that topic. Let me know what everybody thinks about this subject, maybe I am just being biased.

GO IRISH!!! BEAT SC!!! BEAT SC!!!

I completely agree. I'm so tired of hearing all that bullshit. We can't seem to get credit for anything.

OSU and Michigan both benefitted from the fact that the rest of the Big Ten wasn't nearly as strong this year as it has been in years past.

We played Ga Tech on the road and won, and we have a very real shot at playing USC on the road and winning. Both are ranked. If we do both of those things, as well as beating what will likely be a 9 win Navy team by the end of the year, and what could be a 9-win Purdue team, and the same Penn State and Michigan State teams both of them played, it speaks for itself.

Possible arguments for a weak schedule:
Michigan State (4-8)
Army (3-8)
Air Force (4-6)
UNC (2-9)--who beat NC St, who beat BC, who beat...
Stanford (1-10)--who beat Willingham, I mean, Washington
UCLA (6-5)

These line up right alongside Central Michigan, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Northern Illiois, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Iowa and others who are slightly above or well below .500.

When folks spout off like that on online forums, just give them the facts.

The best and only argument a "hater" can make is that Michigan stomped us at home, and they stayed with OSU to the end. Objectively speaking, they are the 2d best team in the country, IMO, and deserve a rematch. As a ND fan I hope the voters think otherwise, but I don't see any other team out there that deserves to displace them.

I couldn't agree with you more, I mean seriously, we've played 7 bowl eligible teams this year out of 12 opponents, that's not too shabby and I would guess that most teams don't play that many. What I think it all comes down to is the overrated strength of the SEC (or maybe I just hate the SEC and everything is their fault). But it always seems that this argument is brought up whenever people talk about who is better Notre Dame or Florida and everyone talks about how playing the SEC's schedule is like playing in the NFL while Notre Dame is competing for the Commander in Chief's trophy.

By the end of the year, 6 our of 12 opponents will likely have 9 or more wins, not counting bowl games.

When UNC was put on the schedule, Mack Brown was coach, and they were winning 8-9 games per year. Stanford is on our schedule year in and year out.

I think a lot of folks on those forums don't understand that ND's schedule is a long-term thing. Because we are independent, we don't have league to determine schedules. That requires us to "book in advance," and it's hard to know 10 years out how a team will perform at the time we play them.

The tides turn relatively quickly on ND.

During the first 5 games, our schedule was called brutal.

After ND is 4-1, it is deemed soft and never looks back. We get no credit for large-margin wins, and lose credit for close victories.

I suppose it is the nature of being a part of ND.

not to be a sticker, but those 8-4 teams are done until a bowl game. that means only 4 teams will have 9 wins or more in the reg season.

A win against SC will eliminate this weak schedule nonsense. But then they will probably say SC is down this year and they are weak. Eventhough everyone is saying if USC runs the table they should go to the NC game.

The Oregon State loss is forgotten...until ND beats them. Then it will be used to downplay the ND win.
